Dino's Name:Fachanan
Walking towards the dino in the distance, I wonder if this is a mistake. If it is, this will be the last act of my life. This dino is hostile, snapping and clawing at all that approach her, and she will be a challenge. Fachanan... A name meaning both "challenge" and "one who is hostile." I've never believed in "true names," but I wonder if I have just found that name that truly belongs to this dino.
Dino's Gender:Fachanan is a female with a fighting spirit.
Your Rider's Name:Tanwen Her name means "little fire."
Tanwen has never had anything come easy to her. She fights for everything she has. Her parents cast her out of their household as soon as she could talk, they had far too many kids to support. Tanwen doesn't grieve over this, rather, this hardens her spirit and makes her stronger. She had no aversion to stealing to survive, and she won't hesitate to fight you to hold her ground. If you prove trustworthy to her, you will find a friend that will always look out for you.
Your Rider's Tribe:Tanwen hails from the Mat'huen.
Do you plan to train this dino?Of course! I love writing stories, and I would love to devolp both Fachanan's and Tanwen's personalities as they train.
Story:(mild blood warning)
Tanwen slipped into the crowds milling around the performers. People wealthy enough to go see the performers usually had items of interest in their pockets, normally things to trade that could help Tanwen live another day. Her hand slipped into a few pockets, and finally drew out a drawstring pouch. Moving out of the crowd and into the trees, she rifled through the pouch, drawing out a few tradeble items, but nothing too good. But looking through the items, she found three things; one herb, copper, and a ribbon, about what was needed for a ticket to see the performers. Staring at these items, a moment of childish need came over Tanwen, she had never gone to anything fun in her life before, unless you counted the time she ran across the rooftops to escape an angry previous owner of the items she had been carrying and their dino. She tried to talk herself out of it, telling herself that the herbs would been needed if she fell ill, the cloth to patch up her holey shoes, the copper, a valuable trading asset. But then her other side told her that there where other herbs in the bag, she had some cloth (if a little damp and moldy) and the copper was a luxury. Finally she found herself walking to the stand, telling herself;
Just this once can't hurt. Paying for her entry, she slipped inside the tent, shoving the pouch in her pocket. Standing in the crowd, she saw many valuables, but didn't want to press her luck by palming them. There would be time for that later. One of the performers stood up on the stage and the acts commenced. There was everything from dino riding, to acrobatics, to fire breathing. Tanwen was awed and amazed at each of these in turn, besides the acrobatics, as she scoffed at some of the tricks they did. Please. She had done better then that before. Tanwen doubted that the acrobats had ever jumped off the roof of a building, landed on their feet, then rolled into an ally, all while escaping the previous owner of the herbs she had been carrying. Granted, Tanwen had no idea how she had done that, but she had managed to push that fact to the back of her mind.
The final act was ready, and the ringmaster stepped out. "Ladies and gentlemen, riders all! The last act we present is possibly the most stunning and dangerous of them all! We have captured a beast so wild, none of our beastmasters have been able to tame it! But today... Our master beasttamer will attempt to train this beast... Or die in the process. Ladies and gentlemen... I present... The Spitfire!"
He moved away, reviling the ring and the beast. Once the lights had been trained on it, Tanwen felt like laughing. This was no great beast, just an ordinary dino! The crowd was laughing and booing the beast, and Tanwen felt just as insulted. She had wasted her pickings for this? A dino? One with markings like fire....
Tanwen's eyes were captured by the dino's markings, weaving through each other like the flames from the fire. Then the beasttamers whip cracked down upon the dino's head and the beast roared at him, thundering towards him, slashing the air in front of it. The man jumped out of the way, and the whip cracked down on the dino again, lashing its side. The beast screamed in pain, and thundered at the man again, only to bear the bunt of the whip. Tanwen was frozen in shock as the poor dino was whipped, again and again, until finally, it seemed it would fall. But it didn't, stilling storming the man and screaming its rages, refusing to submit. It began to take the offensive, lashing out at its tormentor, eventually throwing him back into the cage, where he lay, stunned, but as the dino stormed on him again, simply rolled out of the way and thrashed the dino on its leg, tripping it, until it lay in the same position that he had been just moments ago.
Now the bystanders were laughing at this beast, cheering the beastmaster on. Tanwen was outraged at the treatment of this beast, and acted without thinking. Storming through the crowd, pushing people out of her way until she reached the cage. The man was standing next to the dino, sneering at the fallen beast; "You aren't so tough now? Spitfire, they called you... Bah! You are nothing but weak! As I should have expected of a
female."
Tanwen hadn't known she was holding a knife until that moment, when she found herself clutching it so hard, its imprint had dug into her skin. Probably palmed along the way to her cage in her fit of rage. She hissed through clenched teeth. "If you touch that dino one more time, I swear..."
She must've looked like a madwomen in her black clothes, knife in hand, hair slightly frizzed from her storm through the crowd and allowing that she hadn't washed it in forever. The crowd backed up around her, but some were cheering her, as if they thought this was part of the show. The beastmaster sneered at her; "Oh yeah? What are you going to do?"
He raised the whip at the dino again, and both Tanwen and the dino acted in unison. Tanwen snarled as if she was the dino herself, whipping the knife through the cage in a throw not normally achieved by her, towards the beastmaster, the same time the dino lunged at him. His fate was sealed, and for a moment, Tanwen felt remorse at what she had done. She was used to being wanted for being a thief, but now...
The whisper traveled through the crowd, rising into a roar. "Murderer!"
The roar became a scream as the dino attempted to rip its way through the heavy ring. Tanwen fell backwards as the dino ripped itself free, screamed its freedom and challenge towards the heavens, and turned, snarling, towards the quickly emptying crowd, fleeing the scene. The dino roared its supremacy to the skies as Tanwen slowly inched backwards, trying not to call attention to the dino that a tasty human snack was right near its feet. The dino turned to watch the people free, and Tanwen scrambled back to avoid being crushed by its feet. Scrabbling backwards on all fours, she turned to run, and hit the remnants of the cage.
"Ow!" The metal had cut though her palm, and she had cried out from the pain. Then she clapped her hand over her mouth as she felt the jolt of the dino, the sniffing nostrils, the thunder towards her. She felt the shadow rise over her head, and the warmth radiating off the dino's bulk. She heard its cry and wondered when the end would come for her. There would be no escape now...
