Name: Astra
Chosen: I chose this name because it means "star", and her type is "star"catcher.
Gender: Female
Past: Astra tried her hardest to make her parents proud, but they always scolded her and praised her siblings. She had a few friends who would talk to her, and they weren't bad friends, but they usually left her out of things. Getting tired of her lonely life, she decided to travel in search for a good friend, and possibly even a mate. Every night, she sings a song to the sky, expressing her pain of being alone.
Personality: She feels protective to those that are alone and hurt, and she tries her to best to help them and give them hope. She tends to be bitter to those who have friends, feeling envious towards them. Others see her as a quiet and weak. Astra, however, sees herself as strong and caring, someone who will not back down to take care of those in need.
Song: Her words are caught by the night air then blown to the stars;
"WIP"
Legends: There are a few lengends surrounding her type of Crystal Tail Lynx, none yet proven to be true.
The First Starcatchers
Starcatchers are said to fall from the sky, coming from across the universe. Others say they come from exploding suns, but another legend says otherwise.A lynx named Dusk had enjoyed watching the night sky, gasping in awe at the wonderful stars and moon. Once a month he would travel to a tall mountain and sit at the peak. His dark eyes would flare with the fire of the stars, his fur blowing with the cold mountain wind. He told himself and others, "One day, I'll join the stars. One day, I'll live and talk to them."
One night, he traveled to the mountain and didn’t come back. His friends started to worry as days went by, not seeing any sign of him. After a month went by, Dusk returned from the mountain, his pelt twined with crystals that revealed the night sky. His fur reflected the cosmos while his fiery eyes sparkled with knowledge.
“Where have you been?” a frightened voice asked from the crowd. Dusk looked different-not just his pelt, but also the way he acted. They wondered if it was Dusk, or just a strange creature passing by. When he spoke, there was no doubt it was Dusk, his deep voice echoing off the mountains and hills.
“I have walked with that stars, and they taught me their secrets,” Dusk looked up at the sky in respect. “They lifted me to their realm of fire and ice, whispered to me, whispered the meaning of life and death, whispered to me all their secrets.”
The lynxes shared glances with each other, all agreeing he had gone mad. Stars were just spots of light speckling the sky, nothing more. Dusk’s mate took a step forward, speaking softly, “Perhaps you should go rest…you’ve been gone a long time and look half-starved…”
“They have much more to tell me, I have to return to them,” Dusk shook his head and traveled back towards the mountain. His mate, worried about his state of health, quickly followed after him. “You must lie in the night sky, too, so they can share their secrets with you.”
“Yes, of course,” she followed him, only wanting to help.
They never returned from the mountain, but their children did. They shared the strange crystals and pelts of their parents, and were very wise. As time went on, the strange knowledge they possessed were said to dwindle through each generation. No longer did they share the secrets of the stars, but only dreamed of them. Their pelts, however, forever remained changed.
