princess of the flame

      Username: Hey there! I'm Annalese123. You, however, can call me either Annalese or Anna, either is completely fine by me. I've been a lover of Kiamaras since the beginning, but, like everyone else applying for these, none are yet to call my own. Hopefully, Cecelia can fill that empty gap! <3
      Name: If this little Kia were to be mine, I'd name her Cecelia. I have no idea where the name came from or how I thought of it, but as soon as I looked at her, that was the immediate name that came to mind. I personally could never see her as anyone else. Her friends would probably call her CC.
      Gender: Despite how CC may have a hot-headed nature and act more masculine than she should, I assure you that she is completely a girl. And I personally could not see her as anything else. ♥
      The day my element was discovered: Cecelia's life was never ordinary. Being the runt of her family, but arguably the most noticed, she was always getting into trouble and being punished for her misdeeds. She was hotheaded and arrogant and was always giving someone pain. Such was the way of her life that when Cecelia woke one sunny, fine morning, she never even thought how drastically her life could change. Just one moment her thoughts strayed and that one moment, she lost everything she held dear.

      With a sigh, Cecelia let the water ripple against her paws as the current of the river pushed it along. The deep crimson Kiamara stared at her paws, watching with interest as shadows were cast across the river. She never moved further into the water, even though the cool liquid felt wonderful against her flaming skin. For some reason, the peaceful water terrified her. Lowering her head, she lapped up the water, sending icy shivers down her throat. Flicking her mane out of her eyes, she wriggled around until comfy, letting her eyes flutter closed, curling into a ball.

      It is unsure how long actually passed. A few hours? Perhaps. However, when Cecelia woke, she woke to terror. Her eyes flew open, a terrified scream piercing the air. She pushed herself to her paws, the intense heat causing her to shiver in fear, as her piercing red orbs stared at the flickering of orange and red around her. Fire. Terror clouded her vision as she coughed, the black wisps of smoke filling her lungs as it shrouded over the clearing that was now unrecognizable. With a hiss as tears sprung to her eyes, the young Kia looked for a chance to escape.

      There was none.

      Backing away from the fire as sparks sent it closer, Cecelia felt her paw dip into something cool. The water! Of course she could always swim away ... But as Cecelia stared down at the crystal clear liquid, she knew she couldn't. Although she was scared of the fire which surrounded her, her pure terror of the water stopped her from saving herself the easy way. Instead, she stared at the fire, and leaped through.

      The flames engulfed her for a few seconds, until she burst through the other side. Panting, she collapsed upon the hard ground, until she realised that the only pain was in her lungs. She felt no burns on the outside of her pelt, and even now, it was if the fire refused to come any closer. She stared around at it, before pulling herself to her paws. In synch with her, the fire died down somewhat. Incredulously, Cecelia's eyes widened, tentatively stepping closer. Slowly, it crept backwards, leaving charred ground beneath it.

      Nothing could stop the surprise that registered on her face. And so here it was, CC's first experience with a fire, and the first she learnt she could control. Even now, her powers are limited, and she refuses to use it, excluding in necessary circumstances. She holds her power very dear, for it saved her life, as unwilling as she may be to have it.

      Extra: The extra that I decided to do was a scrapbook. However, you said only one piece of art, so for now, I only have the cover. But, if I win her, I hope to continue with this scrapbook!

Kinasha
(Key-na-sha)

Kinasha is a very uncommon name but it is suiting for this beautiful Kia. Kinasha is often called Kina for short and it is a bit of a cute nickname given to her by her older sister. Kina doesn't particularly dislike the nickname and she has grown used to people calling her by her nickname rather than her full name.

The sparks fluttered and danced in the wind. It was quiet, yet traumatizing at the same time. The small village where Kina lived was engulfed in red flames, hungrily devouring all that lay in their way. Her family had been lost in the flames, and the young Kia refused to leave no matter how dangerous or foolish it was, she had to find them. Her very last breath was lost in the silence and everything she ever loved fell apart right before her eyes. She couldn't just leave her family... Could she?

Many hours before when all remained peaceful...

It was a glorious summers day and the young Kia had waded out by the pond along the end of camp and was splashing her feet in the water and watching her reflection ripple in the small waves. She smiled, but only for a second. There was no value in life, and no one liked Kina, was what she thought, and she had been feeling that way recently. All the support she had was her family, who had always stood by her side. What was the point in smiling? She had no significant purpose in life. She made no difference to the world.

That night Kina stared at the sky in wonder as the northern lights danced and laced across the gloomy night. The colors spun in an array of colors ranging from vibrant red to a smooth blue and Kina watched in pure awe. It was the most amazing thing she has ever seen before, it was almost unreal and mystical.. Thats not the word.. She thought.. Enchanting was more so what it seemed to be. Kina sighed and lay her head down to rest. Her eyes began to droop and she fell into a dark and silent slumber.

A loud noise erupted from the clearing and awoke the young Kia. She tilted her head and looked around the forest.. 'Is that burning ashes I smell?' Kina slowly got to her feet and lifted her head and sniffed the air. Half asleep she walked towards it not knowing any better. Kina stared in horror as the flames grew and swallowed up the forest in one instant. Immediately the Kia thought to save her family, the only ones who mattered in her life.

She rushed out into the clearing and called out to them, only to get no response. Kina felt tears trickling down the side of her face and she shook her head and refused to give up. She ran headlong into the flames in search of her family. The shock and fright of it all made Kina forget of the searing pain from the flames. Everywhere she looked she could not find them, eventually Kina just dropped onto the grass. She could not hide her emotions any longer, she cried out 'Why, why.. Why!' over and over again but nothing ceased, nothing happened and no one came to make it all stop. In the back of her mind she was half expecting her family to come and comfort her, but no one came and no one comforted her. Why would you take away the only ones who matter to me, why is fate so cruel? she thought bitterly. Please... Just stop.. Stop it.. She whispered. Enough... As she did so, the flames seemed to subside, was this her imagination or were they finally ceasing? Kina got up from where she lay and she yelled at the flames to disperse, and in that instant the flames were nothing but cinders that would only flicker and burn out in mere seconds. Kina looked in surprise at what just happened. Did.. Did I control those flames? She thought. No.. No I couldn't have. A yell erupted from the clearing and broke Kina away from her thoughts, it was her family and they were injured a bit, but they were all there. Kina broke into a uncontrolled sob and ran to her family. ' I- I thought,' Kina begain, and in that moment her mother hugged her and told her it was okay. Kina never really did completely comprehend what happened that day, but ever since then, she has valued her family more than anything and she realizes how lucky she really is. Kina is now going to live her life to the fullest, along side her parents and siblings of course, and she will soon learn how to put her 'gift' to good use.

This art gives a short visual explanation about what Kina thinks and why she acts the way she does. The quote defines her struggles and shows how stable she is on the outside; but on the inside, she just needs someone to be there with her and to help her off her feet

This shall be a wip for now.

Here you may know me as Vazchu, but I wouldn't mind being called Vaz or Caius if that's easier to remember. I haven't tried out for all too many Kiamaras yet, I've thus far done it twice (and both times I failed) and I still have two more forms other than this one out there on various Kiamaras that have yet to be judged (and truthfully I'm not even close to being finished with any of their forms). I love to create characters, both when it comes to their designs and themself as a living being that breaths, just like you and I and everyone else (even though it's probably impossible for them to breathe for real). However, I'm a complete failure when it comes to creating characters with fur, which I find rather frustrating at times since I really want to learn how to draw fur... By a coincidence I found the Kiamaras due to and art request I got several weeks ago. So that's about the time when I realized how interesting this species were and how lovely it would be to one day actually have one to call "my own".
Image
Kiukirilya ~ nicknamed Kiukiu
The name originally comes from one of my favourite fantasy series, known as "The tears of Artamon" - written by Sarah Ash. It's a name that I really like a lot (even though the original character in the story is someone I'm not all that fond of), becuase I've always been very fond of unusual names or names that are out of the ordinary... And when I looked at this Kiamara I couldn't help but to think that the name would suit her well. She looks like a Kiukiu to me, to say the least.

I’ve had a dream… Of course… Dreaming is normal, everyone has dreams every now and then during those dark nights. It would be quite sad if there were no such things as “dreams”, each and every night would be so empty and alone without them. However, that dream of mine is what I think may be different compared to the dreams others have. It was always the same dream, night after night. It was a dream that first filled me with fear, but later filled me with the desire to help those in need of help; a dream filled with warmth and fire.

My dreams of flames stayed with me for one year, always the same and always returning to me each and every night. It was early September, the summer had ended but the heat that each morning brought with it had yet to make room for the cooler weather belonging to the winter. It was at that time all of my dreams disappeared… I couldn’t dream at all any longer… But that nothingness at night didn’t last for long, because one September night I awoke by hearing the screams from the Kia family living on the same mountain as my own family did back then. My mother hushed my younger brother who had started to cry because of the sudden noise and told me to stay inside while our father went outside to see what was going on. When he came inside again I couldn’t tell exactly how he looked, but judging by his voice - he was worried. I had become too distracted by the warm light that made its way into our cave to hear what they said. As I was about to go outside, to find out what caused that beautiful light, my father grabbed hold of me and dragged me the other way.
“No! Father, let me go, it’s calling for me!” those were the exact words I said without thinking. That light, it was calling for me.
Both my parents had been staring at me for a short instance, before ignoring it. I couldn’t help it, but in order to get loose from my father I bit him and as I had planned his grip around me loosened and I was able to get free.
“Kiukiu!” they had been calling my name as I started to run towards the cave’s opening where the light waited patiently for my arrival. To my own regret I could hear my father coming running after me, and since he was faster me he was able to catch up to me all too soon.
“Kiukiu, it’s dangerous out there, we have to get out of here through the caverns below the mountain…” he said it as he stepped in front of me, making me bump right into him and falling back on my rump.
“But it’s calling for me… Father please, I have to go to it. It’s so sad; it doesn’t want to hurt the others. It wants my help, so please let me help it…” I said, with a saddened voice.
“What is calling for you…?”
“I’m sorry, but I have to go to it!”
as I had said that I managed to get pass him and get out of the cave.
When I stepped outside the cave I faced the flames that looked so much like the ones from my dream. It wasn’t the same ones, but they all seemed so sad. Before my father could catch hold of me again I started to run towards my neighbours cave. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to reach it, because the flames suddenly surrounded me and I was cornered against a cliff.
“You asked me to help you, that you did not want to hurt anyone… I am here now… So please let me help you…” I said, with a low voice. “Please don’t hurt anyone here on this mountain… It’s my home…”
The flames around me still drew closer, but I was not afraid, because I couldn’t feel any pain from them as they started to touch my fur. I stepped out from the cliff so my paw where the lava stone were attached would be engulfed by the flames. Slowly I closed my eyes and felt the warmth rushing into me and how my lava stone became rather hot.
After that I must have lost my consciousness, because I don’t remember what happened between that point and to the moment when my family and friends all where standing around me and the flames were all gone… With the only trace of my once black and red lava stone who had turned pure red and glowed like a flame… When I received my feathers soon after, they too started to glow like flames… I'm filled with flames...

A grand total of exactly 800 words.

Currently working with the picture, but I'll just add the link to its topic for now due to that I don't know if I'll be able to finish it in time for the judging.

Inspiration for the making of the content of this form was "Wake me up when September ends" by Green Day and "Master isn't always in command / The puppet master" ~ skit number 22 during Anime Boston 2011

When is the end date?
You have exactly one week, so this ends on the 18th.
There will most likely be no extensions, but this is quite a short and simple contest so please have everything done by then n.n

Aries

The day my element was discovered:
Pompeii, Italy
AD 79

For ten days, the bright, spotted creature had the same routine; it would pass the baths, walk calmly through the marketplace into the square past my class, and take a seat at the temple of the edge of town. It would sit there for hours, gazing the mountain Vesuvius across the way from the temple. When the sun began to set, the creature would make the same journey back to wherever it emerged from. One of the scholars in my class called the creature Aries, pointing out its ram-like horns. And Aries it was.

I observed my students on several occasions attempt to bribe the creature with wine and bread. Aries would not take the offerings; nor would he look at my students. His eyes were looking ahead, never deviating. They quickly discovered Aries would never be swayed by offerings and stopped trying to distract the creature.

On the ninth day of Aries' routine, one of my students sat with the creature, hoping to understand what it saw. He sat by Aries' side, and Aries did not seem bothered by my student's presence. Aries and my student watched the mountain together, neither moving in the slightest. My student imitated Aries' stillness and gaze.

The next day, I asked my student what he saw in the mountain with Aries.

"I saw nothing in the mountain, Elder. But Aries saw something. I cannot see it because I am not Aries, but he told me what he saw with no words."

"How do you know Aries saw something in the mountain when he did not speak?"

"His eyes. His eyes speak more than the mountain or his tongue. I saw fire in his eyes, Elder. They burned brighter than the sun yet had a darkness about them like the night. We have seen him for many days yet never asked him what he saw. We had to listen, Elder. Listen without words."

My student, young and naive, did not understand.

On the tenth day, Aries never arrived. He did not pass the baths, pass our class, and go to the temple to gaze at the mountain. But on that day the mountain gave way to an explosion of fire brighter than the sun and darkness darker than the night. As the darkness overtook us I finally understood what Aries saw.

It took my death and entombment to understand.

After the mountain buried Pompeii, my spirit stood atop the thick layers of ash that now concealed our city. Ash rained from the clouds of darkness above, gentle as a snow. In the distance, I saw a figure... a wolflike figure. As it continued to make its way closer I saw who it was;

Aries.

He gently walked on the ash, spots of the substance forming a thin layer on his coat. He stopped in front of me and looked up; our eyes met.

"Why did you not warn us, Aries? You knew of the terrible danger of the mountain. Why did you say nothing?"

"I said much, Elder. You never listened."

Name:
I will name him Chaos. In Greek mythology, Chaos was the nothingness from which all else sprang.

Gender:
He will be a boy.

The day my element was discovered:
I remember the day like the bottom of my paw. That dark, dreadful day. That day everything I knew and loved was engulfed in flames.
It was a dark, gloomy day. Not the weather, but the feel of it. The sun was shining on the hot summer day, but something about that day made my fur stand on end. I didn't like it. Not one bit.
My mother was gone at work again. She always worked, telling me to stay home and watch the house. Every day was the same. She leaves, I watch, she comes home and she yells at me for hours on end about how I never do anything to help her. My father is dead, so we were on our own. She blamed me for his death. She always tells me it was my fault he died. It was my fault that he burned to death. He had caught fire and died when he was watching me one night. I survived, even though the house burnt down completely and my father died. I was barely a week old at the time. His death was actually a suicide. At least, that's what other people had told me. Some people say it was an attempt to kill me and himself so he couldn't take blame. Nobody really seems to know. All we know is that it involved fire. That's how I got my name, Chaos.
That night, when my mother came home, she was in a mood. A worse mood than usual. She just marched on in and plopped down on the ground.
"Why do you do this to me?" She asked, her voice full of pain.
"Mother, you do this to yourself." I sighed, looking at the wall. I heard her growl lightly as she stood up.
"You know very well this is your fault!" She shouted at me, getting in my face, her eyes filled with rage and pain.
"How on earth is this my fault!?" I yelled back, my claws scraping the floor. I was at my snapping point on her, I was done tolerating her. I knew more than anything that none of this was my fault.
"It's your fault your father died! You sit around here all day and make me work until I feel like I can't breathe! While you hang out with your friends, I sit around with my rib age showing because I work so hard I don't even have time to eat!" She shouted at me, her eyes glimmering with something new... Hate.
"Dad killed himself!" I yelled at her, and she flinched, the hate in her eyes intensifying. "I have offered to take your job, but you refuse! I've tried to make your life better but you reject every offer I make, you do this to yourself!" I growled, glaring at the floor,
"Your father didn't kill himself. Everything they have told you were lies. LIES!" She screamed, her frail body almost shaking. The side of my paw felt really warm, but I ignored it. I was too enraged.
"What could I have possibly done to kill him!?" I asked her, my gaze lowered. "I was a week old! I could barely see!" I defended, looking her in the eye.
"You... You..." I heard her voice hitching, and the words didn't seem to come out of her mouth. My paw felt like it was in flames, but I still ignored it.
"I what!?" I shouted, glaring at her directly in the eye. "I. What?" I said, stepping closer. I felt a heat underneath me, and I saw that my paw literally was on fire, and it was spreading across the wooden floor.
"You burned him to death." She told home, her voice low. I stared in horror at the ground as the flames lapped at the ground. "You're a monster." She growled at me. I backed up, my voice unable to work.
I killed my father.
Without thinking, I ran it of the building. I didn't look back, not for miles and miles. I must have ran for ages, because when I stopped, I was in the middle of a forest. I sat there for hours, hating myself and everything about myself.
Time went by, and I finally got the guts to go home. When I got back to my house, the entire place was in ash and ruin. I looked around frantically, only to have my friend stop me. "Don't bother, Chaos. She didn't make it out, she's dead." I froze in my tracks, and laid down, covering my head with my paws.
I killed my parents.

I was playing around with the word "Flame," and
I came up with Flaene.

Image
Flaene is QUITE CLEARLY a
woman, and she thinks that
it's QUITE CLEAR that she
isn't male, and that anybody
who would even think she's
a male is either blind, stupid,
or both.

Image

For some reason, I thought it was
a good idea. I thought it was a
good idea to go out camping with
my boyfriend, Quinn. Haha, NO.

"Hey, Flaene!" I heard Quinn call
to me from behind. My head
whipped around.
"What do you want?" I asked Quinn

~~~~~~~~~
Image
in a harsh, annoyed voice; I didn't mean any harm, although it was second nature for me right now.
"Can we break? I'm too tired to walk any further, and we don't want to get TOO far away from civilization," Quinn winked at me. I rolled my eyes at him, and dropped the bag I had hoisted on my back.
"Ugh, fiiiiiiine," I said, and I zipped open the bag. I carried the food, and Quinn carried the tent, which was small in the first place.
After we set everything up, me and Quinn decided that we would create a bonfire as soon as we gathered several pieces of wood/large sticks, since we brought matches with us. Anyway, I was given the job of wood searching. Simple enough, anyway. I finished the job in about half an hour. Can't say it was easy; I sliced my palm on a tree branch, which hurt, I cursed loudly, and it must've left a cut. I also got stung several times by mosquitoes, and I KNEW I would be spending the rest of the camping trip scratching like I had friggin fleas or something... then I returned back to Quinn, made a small bonfire; I slipped the matches out of the bag, lit a fire, slinked back in the tent, and curled up beside him.
My paws felt strangely warm when I finished lighting the bonfire; however, I was certain that it was because of the warmth radiating off of the bonfire's flames. It was now dawn at the time, anyway, and I quickly drifted to sleep beside Quinn.
I didn't sleep well. I kept on smelling smoke, and I kept on drifting back to sleep before I could find out what the cause of the smoke was, since I was just TOO damn lazy to move in the first place. And I was too damn lazy to move until I heard my boyfriend screaming at the top of his lungs, and things collapsing.
My eyes shot open insanely quick, and I jolted awake. My vision was too damn blurry for me to see anything, but I could make out flames. I quickly cleared my eyes, and automatically bolted out of the tent, and hit a pole by accident- what a jerk move, my frigging boyfriend was stuck in a tent that was on FIRE, and it collapsed on him. I shrieked, and threw myself at the tent, trying anything- anything, to pull the tent of off him and save him. The flames burned through my flesh, but I didn't care.
Quinn would NOT be dying tonight. Not as long as I was still alive. Even though I was getting more and more burnt by the second, I managed to pull the tent off of Quinn.
"Flaene! Run! I'll catch up with you!" he yelled at me. I believed him, and I ran. I ran so hard my lungs burned; I ran so hard I couldn't breathe, and I ran so hard that the world around me faded, and I passed out.
I woke up a day later surrounded by the buzz of machines, and the discomfort of a stiff bed. My vision was a blur, which was completely normal, considering I just woke up; until it didn't clear, and I started freaking out.
A few minutes later, a nurse walked into the room. She had white and navy blue fur, with what I assumed were black eyes- pretty. She didn't smile at me or anything, which I suppose would be normal, and was mostly silent. Then, she finally spoke up.
She told me that I suffered Ocular burns to the cornea, whatever the hell that means, and that my vision would never be the same again- I wouldn't go blind, but I'd need to wear contacts.
"Also, we're very sorry to inform you of this, but Quinn didn't survive the fire."
The nurse stared at me. I stared at the nurse, who was a blue and white blurr, taking in what she said for several seconds.
I laughed. The nurse looked at me as though I was insane.
"Sorry, miss nursey whatever, but I SAW Quinn escape the tent with my own eyes. Care to explain that?"
I tried to deny it, evidently, but I knew she was right. Quinn was dead.
Later, once I got released from the hospital one day later, I returned to the woods me & Quinn camped in, the night before he died.
That moment, I knew I was the one who killed my boyfriend. The bonfire was still burning lightly, just as it had done the night I lit it.
I caused the fire.
I killed my boyfriend.
