Of many names I have pondered, Enisi, Cherokee for 'grandmother', is the one that sticks out the most. Even though she is young, it seems to fit in an odd sort of way...
Gentleman or Lady
100% female, I can assure you.
Age?
0. Still a young kit just now getting to know the world.
When I met my imaginary friend...
I recall a time, very long ago when I was still a small child, when my imagination was still wild. I always had one particular dream, not a bad dream, but a wonderful, magical dream, that would come to me again and again, year after year, even as I grew up. I remember that it was always the same. I would climb on top of the wooden railing of the deck where I lived and just stare at the sky. It was always sunny, and there was always a gentle breeze. I remember feeling so at peace, I would just stand there, listening, until the wind would begin to caress me with soft touches, gently brushing against my arms, as if trying to lift me up. I would stare at the sky, big and blue, then, as if of their own accord, my arms would begin to flap. Again and again, harder and harder, as if to mimic a bird's wings, and suddenly, as if lifted by the wind itself, I would begin to float. It was effortless, far from it. My arms would ache with every beat I took, but once my feet left the railing and I was in the air, an overwhelming joy would fill me. For hours it seemed, I would flap my way, slowly but steadily, above the ground, feeling myself lift with each stroke, the stretch of my arms as they pushed the air. Even as tiring as it was, I would always strain myself. I could never get past the treetops, but I would push anyway, trying harder and harder just to see how far I could go. That is all it would ever be until I woke. Something strange though, at least to me. Right before I would open my eyes and the dream would end, I would always catch sight of..... something..... I never could figure out exactly what it was, but it always left a shimmer of purple sparkles behind, and when I awoke, it always felt like there was something there with me. Sometimes it felt like it was laying on my bed next to me, though I couldn't see it. All I know is that whenever I felt that presence there, I would never have a bad dream. No nightmares, nothing. Whatever it seemed my heart desired most when I fell asleep, that was what I would dream about. And always, that purple glitter would be there at the end to lead me out of my dream. It may seem silly to say, but I firmly believe I had a friend there. Imaginary, yes, but a friend, throughout all my childhood, and sometimes, I think I can still feel her when I wake, even now as old as I am.
Of Flowers and Flying
Over the years I have come to realize a few things about her, maybe not as many as I could have, but some nevertheless. It may be because I never TRULY believed, but I don't think I've ever heard her speak. I highly doubt that she is mute, but perhaps just on the quieter side, letting her expressions do the talking for her. Maybe its too keep from accidentally waking up the children she is dreaming with. She is polite that way. And she has a great deal of compassion in her too, for her to spend her time looking after children instead of doing..... a whole number of things actually. She is a protector too. I remember many times when my dreams would turn black, and I would become so scared of what laid ahead, I could cry. But then, even while dreaming, I would feel a soft warmth of fur encircle me, and slowly, the fear and darkness would go away. She always reminds me of flowers, cause she always seemed to smell like them. Maybe she likes to sleep in flowerbeds? Who knows. But what I do know, is that she loves to share her gift for flight. I've only ever heard of it from other kids, but I never doubted it for a second when they told me of how a beautiful purple cat would make the orbs on her tail glow and use it's magic to let them fly with her. Oh how saddened I am by what all I missed out on! But maybe there is still a chance for me yet.....
Is there such a thing as magic?
Enisi's special gift is her love of children. Like a watchful grandmother, she uses her power to watch over them, even in their dreams, playing with them and making their hearts desire's come to life while warding away nightmares and doubts. She is invisible to all humans, except those few, namely young children, who believe in her from the deepest part of their hearts. Those lucky few will be watched over and played with for as long as they believe. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't one of them, but maybe one of you out there will be able to see what I could not.
If she comes home with me...
She will have an honorary spot in my specially selected family of characters, a small, tight knit group who all exist in the same universe and thus, are able to visit each other at their leisure. Along with this, though she wouldn't be much good as a roleplay character (I dont write as much as I used to, but maybe in the future), she will build up an archive of art and love from both me and others.
