"Crazy" Aunt Pi the Pegasus

Postby Tano-kun » Mon Mar 04, 2013 6:16 pm

Character Name: “Crazy” Aunt Pi

Age: (Older) Adult

Gender: Mare

Species: Pegasus

Job: Pi partakes in a great number of jobs, depending on her mood and muse for the day. However, the one job she does tend to always come back to, and do once every other day or so is mail delivery. She loves to come up with new mail jokes while she “spies” on the citizens for inspiration for her next joke.

Cutie Mark/Special Talent: Pi’s cutie mark is a pie with a Pi symbol over it. Her talent itself is obscure and unknown to many, as she herself seems to show interest in so many things that no one can quite guess what her talent it. In truth, however, her talent lies in puns, similes, and other strange language jokes. She has a knack for finding the funny in anything and everything, though others rarely see it.

Personality: Pi is the kind of mare who can be found either engaging in chatter and fun with friends, or sitting in the rain with an upside-down umbrella. She doesn’t make much sense to those around her, as she seems to flitter about on all sorts of things. Some days she has an innate interest in the weather, and gathers her Pegasi friends to join her in weather related fun. Other days she’s trotting around the borders of the town, intend on aiding the guards in their noble pursuit. She’s an oddball who can’t be pegged down for anything, and spends the majority of her time in a world only she seems to understand. Despite her eccentricities, she does have a great many friends, as she uses her strange discoveries to find jokes and other things to get a laugh out of her fellow ponies. When in a pinch, too, the ponies all know that if they can make her believe the subject to be something worth her time, she’ll happily aid them, and get the job done well, at that! She’s a jack of all trades, and could rather easily be compared to a Luna Lovegood (apologies, but it does paint a good picture).

History: Pi grew up in Hollow Shades, in a perfectly normal and average family. Her mother was an Earth pony, and devoted herself to gardening for many of the vegetables the townsfolk ate daily. Her father, a Pegasus, was a baker well known for his salads. Together, Pi’s parents opened their own café, where they raised their single daughter, Pi. As a child, Pi was just like the other children, laughing, playing, doing her best to find her talent. She never struck anyone as odd, and actually seemed a rather bland sort of foal. As she grew, however, and her classmates all gained their talents, Pi found herself falling behind, having no special talent of her own. She had always been average at everything she tried, and excelled at nothing. For a long time she did her best to discover her talent, but as she reached adulthood with a blank flank, she decided she simply had to decide on what she wanted to do, and care not about whether or not she got a cutie out of it.

Even as an adult, Pi often visited her parents’ café. Having grown up there it was home for her, and she was always welcome. For as long as she could remember, Pi’s parents would try their best to get entertainment ponies from other towns to come by their humble shop to gather attention for both the town and their shop. Normally, the entertainers were singers or comedians, but never were they well known. One day, after having a rough day at work in the mailroom, Pi came to the café to find a philosopher holding a conference. Rather than leave, she found herself enthralled, and listened to all the speeches and questions addressed by the speakers. As the discussions progressed, she found herself engaging in it, asking and answering the questions of others. One question posed took her a moment of thought before she could reply. She retorted with a pun, and the whole room of stuffy ponies chuckled in amusement. Thrilled by the reaction, she thought of another, and then another. And before she even knew it she had her cutie mark. Since that day she’s become less and less “normal” and more and more unique. She does anything and everything she can to give her material for a new pun.
