Teal was swimming, one of his favorite activities. It weas out near the florida, by his home. He splashed and played, then dove down to watch the surface. he always loved how the light would flicker and dance through the water, and he would just swim on his back and gaze up at it. Suddenly, something dark covered the light. Teal swam up frantically and, but felt something horrible and sticky on his face when he burst through the surface. he accidentally swallowed some of the horrid bitter stuff and was left looking over the water after a minute of sputtering and chocking. Something black and shiny floated on the surface of the water. Suddenly, he felt woozy and wanted to faint. He felt the bitter black stuff rising in his throaght again, like he would puke. Then something gentle closed in around him before he fainted.
Teal had been rescued by some humans helping clean the water. It was the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that caused this terror in his home, and the waves of seemingly endless black liquid. The humans helped Teal get better and gave him a place to live until the oil spill was cleaned up.
