Such a simple question with a complicated answer really. The Zarutho are pretty much a liger mixed with an antelope... Or at least that's how they appear to be. These marvels were first spotted in Cario, Egypt. They were crowded around the body of Cleopatra when she passed and often sat on top of the Sphynx. They were only dismissed as tricks from Bast, dismissed as a punishment or an omen to the people. The Zarutho hung around Egypt for many millenia until they all just migrated, disappearing into the hot sands. On an expedition, the first explorer to actually communicate with these beasts found that they were extremely intellegent and very volitile. They were calm and open to answering questions but only if the sky was stormy and dark. When it was bright and sunny, the Zarutho turned bloodthirsty and ruthless, even killing a few obersevers that managed to glimpse these creatures. They did not form a pride, they were nomads and individuals would migrate away from the small nomadic tribe to "start their own". It is speculated those that left the small heiarchy that had subconsciously formed were slaughtered by a rogue Zarutho. Their eyes consist of large human eyes, often "compacted with the energy and omniscence of a young human child". They can understand human speech and syntax, often being able to create words and speaking in a "Scholarly manner". Those that have been placed in captivity are positive for being able to speak small words and have a adept love of Shakespeare and music in general. Their maximum life expectancy is 5 millenia old. It is extremely rare to find an ancient Zarutho; which is a Zarutho that lacks color, has the aurora borealis in their eyes and is more than six millenia old while having the limber limbs to last another millenia.
The Zarutho diet usually consists of the meat from a large cat or animal (Human included sometimes!), vegetation and small rodents. They can survive with water or they can survive on a rare venom called Leuricide but that is quite hard to come by, only being spotted as often as a Delican is created. (See below) They actually have been noted to be able to change into a human very seldomly and walk among us... Despite the fact they may have horns or their ears or even their tail... or all three! Though those events are VERY rare, so it is not for sure if they were just fabled. They are very adept at magic, chaos magick or any other form, even going so far as to create alternate realities for people; though the ones that can weild Chaos magick or create their own reality are most likely only myths..
A Delican is simply an older form of an ancient, they are extremely wise -knowing literally everything in the universe. They are locked away until a new generation of Zarutho needs teaching on history or advice on whatever is important. They find peace in solitude and are often trying to make new things to learn about by combining concepts. They usually have an air about them that suggests they are arrogant and pompus but in reality, they are the most caring Zarutho out there. These are only created once every 12 millenia and the only known one is Aeden... but he disappeared a couple years ago. A few Zarutho expect him to be off dead somewhere...
