Dragon's name:
{ Flora }
The name is cheesy I know, but I just couldn't think of a better name for her as "Flora" is pretty much the latin word for plant life and it just fits her so well and you have to admit the the name is absolutely adorable, no? }
History (optional):
{ The Escape }
The humans cries and shouts of anger rang out as they chased the young dragon throughout the deeply wooded forest as Flora ran as fast as her long legs would carry her. She had gotten into this situation when she had attempted to steal a shipment of fruits from a ship, she would never have usually done something so sinister if she hadn't have been starving and all alone. And the fruits had looked so juicy and delectable that they had made poor Flora drool. The humans hadn't taken to kindly to having spotted Flora covered in the juices of berries when they had opened their little bow and had grabbed their weapons with malicious intent. Flora had been running for miles now, she could feel her strength faltering and she knew that the humans had only just begun with their chase, they could be quite relentless when they were pursuing something that had decided to eat their food couldn't they? It was around the time that this thought entered Flora's head when she ran straight into a solid rock face and she knew that she was a goner, she wouldn't stand a chance in her starved state against so many well fed humans. "No, it wasn't supposed to end this way!" She felt tears falling from her eyes as she thought of all the things she had wanted to do with her lif. That was when her orb began t glow green, with life. And she heared the voices "fo to the left where the moss covers the rock face and run into it head first, be prepared for a fall into the waters below and continue forwards into the cave." She didn't have time to think, only to act as she did as she was told. She hadn't expected it to actually work and if she ran straight into the rock face then at least her death would be painless. What had hapened was she ran straight Through the rock face and she felt herself falling through the darkness. She didn't know how long she had been falling before she hit something wet and yelped as all oxygen escaped her. She quickly assessed the situation and swam above the water, gasping for air as she did so and swimming to the dimly lit surface, over by the entrance to what appeared to be a cave, was another dragon. He was all black in coloration besides the red scar over his eye and the white Egyptian style eye of horus on his hind quarters. "Hey!" She called out to him as he ran into the darkness of the cave, after what looked like a transparent dragon. "Wait up!"
{ Traveling Companions }
Flora ran after the black pearl dragon even though she could see nothing through the thick mist of the enveloping darkness and she heard nothing but the rushing of the river she had fallen into, even that had become a faint whisper to her ears as she continued onwards throughout the seemingly never ending tunnel. Suddenly Flora saw a soft, blue, iridescent light up ahead and saw the dragon she had seen earlier run into the light, she followed him of course and found herself within a beautiful cavern in which flowers of every shape and size wrapped around crystals which were emitting the strange blue light. Water fell from high up the smooth looking stone that supported this section of the cave and poured down into a crystal clear lake that somehow remained calm and undisturbed even though the water was constantly flowing into it. Within the center of the slowly growing lake was a stone pedestal, which held a perfectly round egg that's surface was smooth and pearly white. "protect it..." She heard the voices say to her again. "The egg must be brought up as your own..." She simply nodded and walked up to the egg, dismayed and horrified by the sight of the black dragon taking the egg in his jaws. Flora immediately sprang into action and pounced upon the other pearl dragon, causing him to release the egg. "Hey!" He said as I pinned him to the ground and used my front paw to step on his throat. "What are you doing with my egg!" She screeched at him, sure the egg wasn't actually hers, but the voices had told her to treat it as her own. "I thought it was abandoned and was trying to rescue it!" He growled back at me as he kicked me off of him. "Liar!" I snapped as I bared my teeth and extended my claws. "This egg is perfectly safe here!" "No it's not! The dead have told me that if it is not moved then it has no chance of ever even living!" I was more than a little confused about this whole 'the dead told him to' thing and encircled him. "I don't belive you." I stated simply. "He's correct..." saif the voice which had been speaking to me. "Who are you?" I asked out loud. "We are the collective life of nature around you, you are speaking to the plant's which have supported this cave for hundreds of years, watching this egg and waiting for it to hatch so that the pearl dragon will be introduced to the world. You are the one who is to ensure that this egg hatches, and it cannot hatch here." So I was talking to plants? "My name is Salvator" said the other dragon. "Okay," I said. "You win, my name is Flora, and I guess we should move this egg huh?"
{ Tragedy Strikes }
Flora had taken the egg into her care, traveling with the strange dragon who went by the name 'Salvator' he had apparently come from a small family that had been wiped out in a storm and followed the dead he had summoned using the power of his orb into the cave where the two of them had met. Flora had developed an instant liking for the brute (male) and stayed by his side through most of their travels, avoiding other dragons and people as much as they could and only fighting when they had to. The two lived their lives in secrecy and soon found strength in each other's presence. It was only a short amount of time when the two had fallen for each other and declared themselves as mates who would never mate, at least not until the egg had hatched. Until one fateful day when Flora and Salvator were traveling through the mountains as a quicker and some what less occupied route to travel by. "Salvator, when do you think the egg will hatch?" asked Flora curiously. "I don't know Flora, perhaps in the spring." Flora sighed and nuzzled her mate as she carried the egg in a lttle fastened sling made from some cloth stolen from the humans. "I hope it hatches soon, I bet it will have your eyes!" "You know that we're not actually it's parents right?" "Sheesh, ever try to have an imagi-" She was cut off by a horrendous screech and talons scrapping her sides. She cried out in pain and very nearly released the egg. "Flora!" Cried Salvator as he jumped to her aid and snapped his jaws at the bird that had attacked her. "Don't worry about me!" She screamed at him as she realized the egg was no longer in the sling and had in fact fallen out, and was now rolling towards the mountains end. "Get the egg!" "But-" "NOW!" Salvator nodded and ran after the egg as the female stood upon shaky legs to face her new found avian enemy, only to find that it was racing after the egg. Flora burst into a run as she, Salvator, and the bird raced to capture the perfectly circular ball of life that had come to a stop right on the edge of the cliff. Salvator made a leap for it, only to be knocked off course by the bird and ended up hanging from the mountain, five feet away from the egg. "No!" Flora screamed as she pounced on the bird before it could reach the now wobbling egg and did some rather violent thing to it, causing the over sized bird of prey to go limp. She ran to the edge and looked back and forth between her precious egg and her love, when the horrifying truth hit her, She wouldn't be able to save them both. "Save the egg, I don't matter! Save the egg!" Screamed out the male dragon as his grip loosened. Flora looked between the two of them, there was only one choice she could make. The choice that went against the destiny the plants had given to her. She bit the back of Salvator's neck and pulled him up, just in time to see the egg fall into oblivion. "NO!" Yelped Salvator as he made a grab for the egg to late. Flora didn't stay to watch anymore, she ran away from Salvator. He couldn't love her now that she had let the egg tumble to it's demise. He would think she was weak now and never look at her the same again. Flora had let their adopted child, the one they had been charged with protection, fall off the edge. She would never be able to face him again.
{ The End, Or is it? }
Ever since that day Flora has avoided all contact with others and still searches for the egg that the plats tell her is still alive somewhere, that it somehow survived it's fall into oblivion. She now lives out her days traveling at night and sleeping in the day, hoping that she can one day make amends with the two dragons she had wronged.
Why do you want this dragon?
{ I want this dragon because of her appearance mostly, I don't mean jusrt because she's cute either. I mean that she looks like a strong and head strong woman who isn't just another princess fairytale type story, she looks as if she has a story to tell about great adventure and loss. She also brings me what I like to call a feeling of peace. Long story short, I feel as if I could really write a story about this strong hearted woman. }
