Often, the simplest trait of someone's personality can change your, and their, perspective on a whole other level. For Phaedrus, that simple trait is the fact that he is mute. It is not by choice, but by birth that he lost his words. You would think that this would complicate his ability to communicate, but Phaedrus in fact quite enjoys it for most of the time, feeling that words are a hindrance. Instead, he uses faint trilling noises from the back of his throat to express his thoughts and emotions. It is also because of his handicap that he has become brilliant at making expressions.
Despite this setback, Phaedrus is a brilliant companion to have. He is quite intelligent and takes his time to look at the little, fascinating things in life, which he will often point out with a nod of his head, a point of his wing or tail. He loves to make friends, and will often look very closely at who he's with, to find out their interests or hobbies, and then will show them something that he presumes they will enjoy from his examination; he aims to please, whomever it is that he's with. His behavior is almost always pleasant unless he's feeling upset that he can't express himself in words, when he feels threatened, or when someone tries to snatch his own food, especially his pomegranate seeds.

History ;

Silent from birth, Phaedrus was always observing others, and never spoken to. As soon as it had become evident that he was mute, no one quite bothered with Phaedrus, as they knew he could only respond with a yes or a no. It didn't bother him. In fact, Phaedrus enjoyed the chance to observe others who were burdened with speech, and the obligation to respond.
He always enjoyed taking time for himself, especially when none of his family was around to wonder about him. One of his favorite places to go was away from his family's den, and watch the skies. Even as a child, Phaedrus held a large fascination with the heavens above, and an intelligence that came with it. He would spend hours on end each night, staring up at the sky, trying to understand why they were there, how they were so beautiful, and what they meant. His family didn't ever know about his obsession with the night sky, as Phaedrus kept it a secret even after he left his family to create his own life.
After he left his family, the young SSD found that he quite enjoyed the company of others. Walking by himself in silence was lonesome, so he began to try and find anyone who would enjoy walking with him. He'd often try to show them things he'd think they'd like, for them to stay longer. It was often one-sided conversation, but Phaedrus loved it anyway, as did his friends. He will always keep an open mind, and stay positive, through the years to come.
