How did you find it?:
Late at night, I sliped out of my small hut and away from the rest of the people. We were on tour of the plains, it was my first time their. I couldn't sleep, I kep thinking of a so called ledgend breed of horse. It was just a myth I had always thought, passed down from generation, to generation. I wanted to see mself if the breed was a myth, or if it was real.
It would be hard to travle on foot, with all the preditors out. Like snakes, cyotes, wolves, also the wild hogs. They could do some bad damadge to ya, but I'm really unsure if they could kill you. They were like mini bulls with their hornes in their mouth.
I walked over too my own horse, Low Strider, the blue roan pinto Quarter Horse stallion. He was tied to a small post away from the other horses, he was one of the most aggresseve horses in the herd. I slowly walked to his rump and pated his hind quarters and made my way up too his sholder. I stuck my foot into the stirrup and pulled my self up. I then swung my leg over and my foot into the other stirrup.
I knew I would be in for a wold ride, this horse was barley tamed. I had to make sure I made the right mooves, other wise, he would try to buck me off if I didn't. I leaned down and untied the reins from the small stump like post, then pulled back lightly, making him back up. I slowly pulled the reins right and kicked my jagged leather boots into boths his right and left side. He responded with a whinnie and a short buck. The buck wasn't very powerful or high enoughf to pull me off. But it did make me jerk a little.
I kicked him again softer making him dart off, into the valley. My hands were cluched tightly on the reins, in case he tried to rear or buck, I would hold them for suport. After a while of riding, he started tiering down, and started canter instead of gallop. I grinned to myself as we approched a small brook. Tall grass surrounded it, along with a few Nightingale Lilly's. The gawks of frogs filled my ears, along with about three or four cyote howls. It reminded me of home, I had always lived up on a moutaion, filled with cyotes, bears, and even cougers.
The brook was beautiful, with all the dim and bright colors surrounding it. I softly pulled back on the reins, making the stallion rear for a few seconds then rest back down onto the soft dirt. I leaned up as soon as he did, making sure I would stay onto the seat of the saddle, and pressuring my feet in the stirups, making sure they would not slip out. Once he rested his rather large hooves onto the ground, I leaned back and sighed in relighf. I sliped my left foot out of the stirup and retreived my leg. Then rested my foot on the ground, I slid my other foot out of the stirup and rested it on the ground too. I turned aorund and began walking too the brook, Low Strider followed behind me. By the look in his eye, and how his tounge was sticking out of his mouth, I could tell he was thristy. This horse was difrent then a lot by the way he acted, I still loved my horse though.
We reached the brook and he looked at me oddly then took a drink of watter. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw movment from the brook. It looked like somthing other than I and Low Strider was here too. It looked like something lifted it's head up and looked straight at us.
I quickly turned my head to face the creature. At the sight of this mare I gasped, the ledgendary breed was real. I slowly bent down and grabed a Lilly then pulled myself back up, facing the mare again. I slowly walked towards it and wached the mares reaction. The mare was carefuly walking towards me too. She soon relized, I was no threat. She then slowly walked acrossed the brook and too me. I put out my hand and flattened it, so the Lily was beded down on my hand, lieing their making no movement.
She smelt of the Lilly then retreived it from my hand and started to eat the flower. I walked closed to the horse and rested my hand on it's jaw. A smlie lit up my face and she urdged to step closer. I turned fromm the mare and slowly walked back to Low Strider. She followed me to the stallion and snorted. She showed a small sighn of agression when I put my hand on the reins.
I turned and looked at her. I decided to see if she would let me ride her, so I walked too her sholder and put my hands on her back. I slowly pulled myself onto the large mareand smiled as she bobed her head up and down. It seemed as she had been ridden before. I grabed a small bit of her mane and kicked my feet into her sides, she began to slowly walk. I pulled back and leaned over and grabed Low Striders reins then leaned back over. I kicked into the mares sides again and we rode off back to my camp.
