He stood, nostrils flaring, eyes blazing and sweat pouring down his flanks. The young two year old colt had challenged Jurin for superiority. Jurin took a step foreword, a warning. The colt stomped his foot and ignored the warning, focusing on the win. Then out of the blue the colt lept foreword, making Jurin slide a few feet back. Jurin turned and reared, bringing his hooves down upon the colt. The bit, they scratched, they kicked and they created wounds. Dust flew in the air making it hard to see the two fighting stallions. They fought and fought until a loud, high pitched shriek was heard. The dust settled and there stood Jurin. The colt was lying on the ground, heaving, too tired to move, Jurin standing over him. Jurin stood tall, proud. He had won, he was superior. The colt stood, regaining some of his strength, looking over at Jurin with fear and defeat in his eyes. Jurin took a step foreword, the same motion he did before the battle, another warning. The colt did not ignore him this time, turning around he limped away across the field.
Jurin stood tall, watching the colt leave, but then called for the colt to come back. The colt came, shaking and scared. Jurin took the colt and welcomed into the herd like his own son. The rest of the herd was shocked but accepted the new herd member as well, thinking of him as part of the family.
The other colts respected him and his compassion and no colt from his herd dared challenge him, but others from the outside challenged him plenty of times, giving him more chances to show compassion.

Short Story OR art: midnight is a brave,honest, and noble young horse, one day when you was a baby he wondered out of their area of land and saw another herd of horses just like them and there were a bunch of filly's and foals in that herd but in his herd it was just him he was lonely and decided to wonder over there every day and as they grew up him and the others he saw every day decided to make their own herd and now he is a lead stallion of his herd and fights any danger that threatens his herd
