Short Story/History: (Short Story: 1st Person)
I pushed myself down river, using my powerful paws to swim in the river's soft current. I surfaced to get a breath of air, shaking out some of the water off my fur while doing so. Just as I was about to dive back into the water, my enhanced hearing picked up the sounds of dried leaves and twigs cracking under the pressure of something stepping on them. Cautiously, I edged near the bank, my green eyes watching the line of vegitation to see if anything would emerge from it. I shook out my fur, getting rid of the excess weight from the water. My ears shot up as another crack of a tree branch sounded throughout the silent forest. As the shadowy figure emerged from the shadows, my eyes widened. Not to far from me stood a human, a rifle shined to perfection in hand. I began to back into the safety o the thick vegitation, but it was too late, he saw me. "Ah, there you are!" He said with a cold, cruel laugh. I knew he wasn't he to become friends. I stood my ground, a fierce snarl escaping my throat. He loaded his gun as he spoke to me. "What a beautiful coat. I could probably get thousands of dollars with a coat like that." I wasn't sure whether or not to attack the hunter or simply flee, all I know is that he was getting on my nerves. He aimed his sight at me, making sure I was aligned perfectly in his crosshairs. I quickly jumped out of the way into the vegitation, the sound of a bullet being fired echoing behind me. I kept my gaze forward as I ran, not looking back once. I could tell the hunter wasn't very far behind me, maybe a few meters. I knew my life was on the line. I picked up speed and reared off to the left, cowering into the shelter of a thick wall of bushes, hidden in it's shadows. The hunter sprinted passed me, oblivious to the fact I had outsmarted him. I sighed in relief and stayed there untl it was safe to come out.
