Name: Flash
Gender: Female
Personality:
On the outside, Flash is tough and unforgiving, which allows her to help her father in looking after his territory. Yes, they are one of the few families of Zaders that stick together even after the kits are born. However Flash is currently considering finding a mate and raising her own young which would probably break the family apart. So added to her personality is a longing for a mate and a slightly snappish behavior to her parents and siblings. On the inside, though, is a tender heart that would have just as easily cared for a random pup found on the territory as would her father. Flash loves much but sparingly and only those that deserve it or earn her respect can see her true nature.
History:
Flash was born in a den with her sibling, Striker. It was their birth that convinced their father, Shock Wave or Spark, to stay with their mother, Lola. Flash and Striker were raised to look after the territory and for a year now they have been living with their parents even though they know how to hunt and fight. Flash felt it her duty to remain with her family and Striker seemed to have matured more slowly and had yet to feel the urge to leave the family. All of them know, though, that it could be any day that one or the other would split, leaving the rest to break off in their wake. Meanwhile, Spark taught his two offspring the important facts about their territory: What plants are good for eating, which are for healing, how to hunt the different types of prey. Flash has paid the utmost respectful attention to her father's teachings due to his experience in life. She knows that this will help her later in life, both while she is alone, but more especially when she has her own kits someday as she dreams.
Story:
Flash arose that morning, fur ruffled from sleep. She was supposed to patrol the borders and scavenge for food that day. The linx in her forced Flash to sit and clean her fur; afterwards she began to attack her duties. On her way towards the eastern border (the family burrow was somewhere north of the center) Flash padded past the "play" area where her brother and she first learned fighting and hunting. Flash smirked at the little stick still left lying there with baby Zader teeth marks chewed in it from all the times she and her brother had "caught" the "rabbit" or "bird" or whatever their simple imaginations could come up with. Now, together, they could hunt down a small antelope! But Flash wasn't interested in big game now. She wasn't really that hungry.
Now at the eastern border, Flash began rummaging through the brush where she knew there should still be some wild strawberries. She could use a little snack to get her going this morning. Unfortunately they were gone, but on the good side, Flash was able to catch the little thief that ate them: a hare. The little creature had gorged itself on the berries that had grown ripe in the sunshine that had followed one of the more recent electrical storms so prevalent in their territory. Flash's irritation with the beast softened, though, when she had killed it and found it to be a plump rabbit, a rarity in the plains where prey had a hard time living.
With her catch triumphantly hanging from her jaws, Flash continued on her way, only to be stopped soon after by frightening scent: Zader!
Flash dropped her catch and was just able to scrape a pawful of dirty sand over when the handsome specimen came into sight. He was striking with a pure white coat and jet black patches. Not to mention his wicked green eyes. The one look almost ruined Flash's resolve to fight, but there was the family to think of.
She challenged the intruder with a low growl that sounded pathetic. The male could smell weakness... but he could also sense her beauty. Little did Flash know how much she had grown, from a pup playing with sticks to a young female, strong and desirable by any male that had sense. The one apparently had a smidgen.
He stepped boldly up to her, gently rubbing his cheek against her own, but before he could go any farther, a louder growl came from somewhere to the right of the two. It was Striker. He snarled at the intruder with true territorial hostility and this finally brought Flash to her senses. She let out a snarl just as furocious and lashed out a claw at the male.
This male was no weakling, but he could tell when he was out numbered and stalked off toward the border he had come from... And Flash slowly, hesitantly, followed. She glanced back once at her brother, who nodded consent, even approval, and turned possibly to blaze his own trail in life.
Art (Optional): I'm so no good at art where canines are concerned...

I would like to try, but I can't make any promises...
