Short Story OR Art: {I have never written a story before, so if this is an awkward or weird story, keep that in mind.}
I woke up one day to the sounds of the little birds and other forest animals, like scampering squirrels and red foxes and the big deer wih the small little babies. I stood up and streached with a wide yawn, listening to the soft sounds of the running stream close by. I'm going to go swimming today, I decided. I padded slowly toward the stream, my nose to the ground as I picked apart all the different smells of all the different animals and plants and tiny, gross bugs. My stomach growled, but I decided I would eat later, after I went swimming, because of that silly rule that my mother always told me, that I had to wait an hour before swimming after I ate.
I trotted my last few steps to the river, my front paws splashing slightly against the rising water on the bank. I lowered my head and placed my nose slightly under the water. I sneezed loudly, making the water splash up around my head, amusing me. I walked further out into the water, until I got to the middle, where the water was deepest. I turned to my left, facing the river all the way down the middle as I paddled, my strong legs propelling my forward swiftly down the stream. I gasped suddenly, jerking to my left as I felt something prose me hard in my right side.
I looked over, and there was little dolphin with splotchy light gray spots and marks. He put his head up above the water, looking at me with big brown eyes. What are you doing all by yourself? I asked. You'd better go back to your mom. She's probably worried about you.
The itty-bitty baby dolphin shook his head from side-to-side a few times. She couldn't see. She was blind and she was captured by humans. She's gone," he said, looking sad. I rubbed my nose on his cheek, comforting him. I suddenly heard his stomach growl, and it reminded me of my own hunger. I grinned and told the dolphin that I would be right back. I told him my name was Cuabitur. "My name is Ceaitius," he replied, sounding a little more cheerful.
I swam off a little ways, climbing out into the bank. I stood still an rigid, looking into the water while my laws stayed dry. My eyes searched the babbling stream, finally seeing a sball trout. I pounced, landing on it with my claws outstretched. I pinned it down and dipped my head into the water, grasping it in my teeth. I bit down, careful not to eat, as I backed out into the bank, trotting down to the spot where I had left Ceaitius.
After we had finished the trout, which filled and satisfied us both, we agreed to meet once a well in the same spot. I turned around and trotted home, taking small detours every now and again to play a game of tag with a squirrel or two who didn't know I was just playing around. I curled up into ball against the big oak tree, admiring this green forest that I call home, and slowly fell asleep.
A few weeks and meetings with Ceaitius went by, and one day, I had a question for him. I asked him why he had bumped into me that one first day. You'll never guess what he told me! He said that he purposefully bumped into me because he had mistaken me for a fellow dolphin! All because I had spots or whatever you want to call them. Well, my spots gave me great friend, so I'm grateful, even if I was mistaken for a dolphin. I don't even look like one.... Do I?
