[Marmoset]

I decided to head to a sewing store to pick up some supplies for my next trip, (I've been dabbling in making Twitch some socks). And I ended up at a sorceress's seam shop. It was dark, and very mystic. I entered through a door of curtains, sitting myself on a seat. I'd waited there for about 2 minutes when a large lady in waves of purple silk flounced into the room. Seeing me, with Sharni sitting on my shoulder, she put a hand to her mouth and left the room. Sharni squeaked in confusion, I shared the feeling. A moment later the woman returned, she was carrying a bundle. I opened my mouth to say something but stopped as she thrust the bundle into my arms.
"Creature is nuisance. It putting me out of business." The woman told me in an accent that told me she had only learnt English recently. I opened the cloth wrapped around the bundle. Inside there was a little Rune Dragon, tangled in a string with beads hanging from them. I looked up at the woman,
"Got into my supplies, destroyed most of them." she told me. Then stormed out.

Well, conclusion of Rune: mischievous, loves to explore and hide in soft things. She gets snappy around having the lace tangled around her wing being touched, so she cannot fly. Prefers to be carried.

Judging begins the 17th of June

❖Story❖

It had been a rough journey, the last expedition I had taken trying to find a rune. And I had come back exhausted, empty-handed and my clothes were in dire need of assistance. My normal soft teal tunic was ripped and frayed, my black breeches more torn than rags, and my cloak, it was, well, irreparable. with a heavy sigh, reaching for a few coins I entered the sorceress' shop, hoping to buy some more clothes. The woman was nowhere in sight to be found, and I flopped onto one of her stools used for measuring, intending to only wait for her. Instead, my weariness crept up and sleep swallowed me.

I awoke as I landed on the cold floor with a heavy thump, my eyes blinking open in confusion. I glanced around, focusing on the clothes around me, and the soft, excited mew of a creature. Sitting up, hand holding my aching head, I looked for the source of the noise. I frowned when I noticed a bundle of violet cloth and lace moved, a bundle that now had my coins! I gasped and reached for them, only to feel the whoosh of air at my hand as the bundle attempted to bite me.

My brain started to wake up, and as I peered at the bundle I noticed it was not cloth at all, but a Rune! Distinctly colored and tangled with lace, the little monster seemed to enjoy the shine on my coins. Too bad I needed those back. Noting a button nearby I flicked it across the rune's line of sight, and away from my coins, hoping the creature would transfer it's attentions. Sadly, no such luck for me. The little bugger continued to nudge and paw at my coins, unconcerned over the small button, and I felt a twinge of anger light.

I was tired and frustrated, wanting only to get some cloth or clothes and go home so I could sleep, and this little bugger was interfering! Mumbling angrily to myself, I leaned toward the rune and quickly snatched away the coins, and pocketing them. The little rune squawked in distress, and turned towards me. Its little eyes showed aghast shock, and child-like sadness. It then began to cry, soft and sweet at first, but as I stood it became less sweet and soft. I rolled my eyes and looked around.

Moving away from the rune I moved toward the back of the shop, the rune's cry now loud and shrill. I groaned, and idly rubbed my temples as I searched for the seamstress. I finally found her huddled in a back room, the door bolted shut. I knocked, and the woman opened the door a fraction, peering out at me with a single brown eye. Then she flung open the door and tugged me inside. Witha small she slammed the door shut again, and leaned against the door, sighing heavily.

She looked haggard and worn, her hair tangled around her, soft bruises under her eyes. When her gaze flicked up to mine I could see weary dismay. Then her eyes lit up with hope, and I knew something was up. Before I had a chance to ask her anything, she spoke. "You have come to take it, yes? Thank you so very much!"

I frowned, not understanding what she was getting at, confused be the whole scenario. "Take what? I have to to ask for your services." I watched as the hope faded from her eyes and she sighed. She then looked me over, taking in my ragged appearance, and she smiled widely. "I'll make you a deal." She said, "You take the rune and I'll make you a new wardobe."

I felt my jaw drop open at the offer, both excited and bewildered. I had always thought Runes were a gifted to be cherished and adored by their companions, but this woman seemed all to happy to be rid of hers. But I could use the clothes, and at free the offer made me stop and think. But I did need to know one thing.

"Is the Rune not yours?" She shook her head vemhently, "No! That beast is a burden to me and my shop, since the very day it showed up. It is not mine." I listened to her, and could tell she was truly distressed by the rune. And from what I had seen of the Rune, it was child-like in personality, indulgent and spoiled. My own two runes were peaceful and fairly easy t care for Runes. Incept and her hatchling, Arcanum were gentle and true blessings to be around, perhaps if someone took the time to understand this rune, she too, could be like that.

Shrewdly I lloked at the woman, and finally said, "For a couple tunics, breeches and a cloak, and I'll see to the Rune." I had no sooner said the words and the woman leapt at me, her spindly arms wrapping around me. "Oh thank you!! It's a deal!" She exclaimed loudly in my ear. I smiled and extracted myself from her grasp, she was far stronger than she appeared. "I'll be back for them tomorrow." I warned her after she had taken my measurements. She nodded, smiling happily as I moved back out to the front of the shop.

It was only after I entered the shop front again I noticed that the wailing of the rune had ceased. I frowned and peered around, finally finding it bundled in a concoon of soft satin, apparently pouting. As I looked at the poor creature, so melancholy something shifted inside my chest and I laughed. The little rune was such a sight to behold, and I couldn't stop my laughter.

The rune peered up at me, confusion in its purple gaze as I fought for air in between gales of laughter, wiping at the tears that fell. With a squawk it hopped from its pile of material over to me, and I noted the change in its little face. It now seemed happy, and smiling. I knelt, a smile on my own lips, and held out a hand for her to see. She never looked at my hand but instead hopped from the ground onto my forearm. I gasped as her longer than normal claws dug into my flesh, and even wincing from the slight burn, I smiled at her.

She was like a child, in need of reassurances she was wanted and loved, and so far she hadn't recieved that. And for that, I felt a wave of shame. "Sweetheart..." I crooned, "You just don't know any better." I stoked her head softly, and she leaned into the touch, a soft, purr-like noise emanating from her throat. And in that moment I knew. She was going home with me, and she'd never want for love again. She'd fit into our little family of Runes and human companion quite nicely.

"So little one," I murmured as I stroked my hand over her velvet like feathers, across the lace she had woven into her feathers, "You like pretty baubles." She peered up at me, a smile on her little beak, and I clasped her close to me. She felt more fragile than my other two runes, and I was gentle with her. But then she nipped at my hand, her beak closing over my flesh and I winced, "Not so fragile eh?" I asked as I shook my stinging hand.

She grinned, and I stood. With my movement she hopped up onto my shoulder, singing happily in Rune speak. I laughed and left the Sewing Shop.

*Next Day*

I entered the shop I had left yesterday, my Runes all present and accounted for, the bell above the door chiming our arrival. The seamstress looked up from behind her desk where a large pile of clothing lay, a smile on her lips, at least until she saw Lace. "You are NOT bringing that thing back are you?!" She asked in a horrified vioce. I laughed and stroked Lace's cheek, "No. I just came to pick up my merchandise." She was still pale, but managed a weak smile. "I will go get it." She said as she stood and hurried toward the back.

Incept landed on a nearby coatrack, and looked about, her golden gaze taking in the shop, as baby Arcanum cuddled close to his new playmate, Lace. For whatever reason, the two seemed inseperable, and I liked it. Arc was already calming down Lace, and she seemed happy to play with the hatchling. Then the woman broke my train of thought as she hustled in two heaping bags, and dropped them at my feet.

I frowned, "I think you have the wrong order. I only asked for a few-" She cut me off, "No, I promised a new wardobe if you took the pest away, and here it is. I'm glad to be rid of the nuance. Take it, and please, do not bring it back." My eyes darted from her to the sacks to Lace, an shrugged, feeling Lace's claws digging into my flesh. "Alright..." I murmured, leaning to grasp the bags.

They sure felt like a new wardobe had been stuffed into their depths. I grunted, and moved toward the door, shoving it open with a hip, and exited.

Once we reached my small cottage I emptied the bags, and gasped at how much the seamstress had shoved in. Ten tunics, five pairs of breeches. three cloaks, two dresses and a lot of other material. Lace grasped onto a sheet of silk, and tugged it over the the "nest" she had built last night, and burrowed into it. I smiled, and set about hanging it all up. Man, I was glad I had entered that very shop yesterday. I now had a wonderful new Rune, and a new wardobe!
