History:
When Ember was born, she was completely black, as dark as the night sky. That was when she was named coal. She grew up normally, learning to hunt, where to hide when larger canines were about. But something, just felt wrong. She was bored, and she was tired of hares and small foxes for food evveryday. She wanted to see what was beyond the dark path. The dark path was magic, as it floated over the rushing river into a glowing forest. (A.K.A. A bridge to a city.)
Ever since she was little Coal naturally knew never to journey on to the Dark Path. It reeked of a poisonus gas, and the hard ground hurt the feet of the one walking on it. It was very long, about half the distance of the forest she lived in, and large creatures constantly journeyed across it, day and night, there eyes lighting up to see the path ahead of them. Until one day, weird cretures with pelts draped over them came, and put a barrier across the Dark Path. They used loud machines during the day, and left it during the night. The large creatures that used to come everyday stopped coming. (A.K.A. Construction workers :3)
Coal watched them, fascinated at what they were doing, when one day, a strange thought hit her. What if they were destroying the Dark Path? She always wondered what lay beyond it, in the glowing forest, but she had always been to scared to actually cross it. It would be now or never. If she wanted to cross it, she would have to. And very soon. So she made up her mind. That night, Coal would cross the dark path.
Coal had spent the rest of that afternoon filling up her stomach on the small woodland creatures that thrived there, her long tail lashing out to clamp them in it's jaws. Finally, twilight came, and she watched the creatures with the loud machines pack up and leave. She wated another hour, to make sure the coast was clear. She slowly approached the barriers, staring up at the large obstacle. She took a deep breath, and launched herself over, onto the Dark Path. No going back now.
She started walking along the path, trying desperately to ignore the rancid smell that was peircing her nose. As she walked forward, the glowing forest grew larger and larger, until she realized it was not a forest. It waslarge stones and rocks, that glowed from the inside. A little closer, and she could see that the creatures that used to run along the Dark Path lived here, because they were everywhere. She kept walkinguntil she had made it to the edgeof the glowing rocks. All of it wasso loud, the creatures with pelts chattering away, the Dark Path creatures yelling at eachother. That part was pretty annoying, but she foung the glowing rocks beautiful. She had never seen so many colors at once!
She had continued walking when she smelled smoke. She turned and looked, and one of the glowing rocks had cought fire! The Dark Path creatures started running every where, along with the pelt creatures, their screams peircing the night. But Coal had never seen fire before, though it scared her, she found it quite beautiful. So she journeyed toward it, growing warmer as she did. It was nice, she enjoyed the heat.
When Coal got to the building, she was nice and taosty warm, and was awed by the brightness of the flames. Before she could go any closer, she heard aloud burst, and part of the building fell to the earth, red and orange flames surrounding it. It crashed right in frontof Coal, who screamed. A flame lept off the building and on to her back, and allof a sudden, she felt a warm feeling grow inside her. When she turned to look, she only saw red, orange and yellow marking along the spikes on her tail. She turned back, and her mane whipped across her face, and she saw the same glowing red and orange. She was not plain anymore, but beautiful.
But more pelt creatures came, dressed heavily in strange pelts, and carrying large things, that lookedlike snakes. Their shouting scared Coal, so she ran until she found safety in a dark alleyway. She started calming when she heard something rummaging through the stuff beside her, and she tensed. Then a small head popped out, one of a black cat. It was so small and pathetic, she wouldn't dream of hurtingit, even though it was considered prey.
"Hello?" She called out gently, and the small cat stepped out of the pile of stuff it had been in. "Hello," it said, though it seemed to be staring at her tail, which was smiling at the small cat.No wonder she was timid. "Please, don't eat me!" She said, taking a step back. "No! I would never!" Coal exclaimed, stepping towards the poor starving creature. She wrapped her long tail aound her, who was now whimpering. "What's your name?" She askedmor softly. The small cat looked up with big green eyes. "I'm Shadow," it said, clearly not as scared as it had been. "What's yours?" Shadow asked. Coal smiled, but before she could say her name, Shadow said, "You look look like flickering embers." Something about the little cat's words touched Coal, so she said, "Well no wonder, it is my name."
So Coal's name was now Flickering Embers. She and Shadow ended up staying together, Ember catching them prey, Shadow teaching her about life in the city. The duo were inseperable. Ember ended up staying in the city with Shadow, away from water, though there was always the trouble of canines, but Shadow always knew where to hide for the large ones, and Ember could always take out the small ones. She was a city Corrupted.
Hehe, I might have gone a bit overboard with the story :3
Personality:
Ember has always been the brave, adventerous type. She's the first one to accept a dare. While this may seem dangerous, it can come quite in handy, if someone is trapped, she'd be the one to save them. She always does something without thinking. While she may seem wild and adventerous, she has a soft side too. When she sees something that is so small and pathetic it doesn't bother to run for it's life at thesight of her, she will spare it. It may seem like a soft thing to do, but look where it got her with Shadow.
