Back Story :: Of all the warriors of Dhole Raven has been considered to be one of the strangest. Of course mutations in color came to the herd now and again, but the coloring on her made even the most experienced elder
wonder. Raven and the others didnt know who her parents where, she just showed up at the edge of the herd one day looking at everyone there, as if she knew they would take her in. Raven was treated like other colts and fillies but sometimes she was given a few stares and whispers behind her back. Raven didnt care, she knew that it was because she wasnt colored like everyone else, but she thought her coat was pretty how it shined in the sun and how it could hide her in the dark. She did often wonder who her parents could be and what had happened to them that could have made them leave her, but she guessed that it must have been very important indeed.
As Raven became older she realized that she was not like the others in more then one way, she could gallop faster then even the fastest male in the herd, she could see in the dark like no other could giving her advantage over several others. As she reached past adult and to breeding age she felt an odd pulling sensation to the direction of what she had been told was a forbidden land, full of will-o-wisps and many other such spooks. She had to go, she had to find out why she felt so drawn to the place. That knight was a full moon, plenty of light to guide her way she went to the area that was pulling her so much and stood on the edge of the fog enshrouded place looking in, wondering what she was here for. Far in the distance she heard a call from her kind. Odd she thought, there would be not one of them who would be able to see in this fog. Raven made a noise in return, hoping to help the other find the direction to return to. Instead she got the shock of her life, A horse, not one of her kind but a horse came running to her looking excited. But when the mare saw her she became upset, "who are you?" the mare asked somewhat angerly. Raven looked at her and smiled a tiny smile, "I am raven, who are you?" she asked in return. The mare looked at her in surprize, no horror, " you do not know who I am yet you are able to travel at least the edges of the dream realm?" Raven snorted in surprize at that statement, "uh, what?" she asked not very smartly. The mare looked at her, "you look very much like darkness" she said looking at her, "for sometime I thought you he." Raven got it then, "Is darkness your love?" she said just to make sure. The mare looked at her with a tear in her eye, "ah, I love him tis true, but we can only see eachother every decade." The mare let loose a single tear that turned into a flower. "It is when our times match", Raven looked at her, "did you meet a decade ago?" Raven asked her, thinking she was close to the answers she wanted. The mare looked at her, "why yes, something happened after I dont remember what, but Ill see him again in time." Raven understood, whatever the mare was she was not allowed to remember Raven, but she had the happiness of Darkness every decade. Raven blessed her happiness and started to leave, hoping to find her own. The mare looked at her, "before you leave, sience you can walk on the edge of the sleep world I think I should give you this," she said giving her a necklace in her mouth, Raven thanked her and looked down at it. The mare looked at her, "it will protect you from evil night mares and help good ones bring you blessed dreams." she said giving a toothy smile. Raven smiled back sience she didnt remember ever dreaming in her entire life. She nodded her head at the mare and left headed to the herd with the sound of a male of her kind calling for the mare in the background. As she reached the herd she couldnt help but wonder what her mother was to have to forget her own child, did it have something to do with this nightmare thing she was speaking of? Raven let it rest, knowing that her future was with the herd, not with her mother and at least her mother had father.
would Raven find out her mother was a good night mare? would she ever meet her father? what would the herd think to know about her heritage? all included if I win this beauty.....
