Beatris is akin to a ghost. No one truly knows who she is or what she stands for. She is shrouded by a cloud of secrecy and it is very rare to witness her. Even if one does catch a glimpse of Beatris, their recollection of her is foggy. Some are a little frightened or intimidated by Beatris if they do catch her around. Beatris has a nameless, calm, and quiet aura about her. It has always been this way, but Beatris did not find comfort in who she was until recently. In the past, she struggled with her identity and was in a constant state of despair and self-loathing. As she grew into a young adult, these feelings eventually left and she grew comfortable in her own skin. In times of failure or intense distress these negative feelings do make a surprise cameo in Beatris's life, however.
Beatris is a curious and determined individual. She is knowledge-hungry and seeks ways to broaden her mind all of the time. She is currently doing meditation when she can afford to spare the time, in order to become better at focusing and clearing her mind. Beatris grew up with strong morals and a powerful sense of justice. It was this justice that led her to her current job. She was not comfortable with being part of the police force, so she decided to choose a career that was similar but not as "out-there". She immediately chose to follow the path of a private investigator. She was aware that she was not noticeable to others and knew that this would actually aid her as a private investigator. It was at this time when she started to accept herself, for she realized that she could be more than just a background character that everyone forgot about. Beatris gives her all when she's on the job, and hopes to leave her mark on the world by doing her job efficiently.
Despite Beatris's appearance, she is in love with all things simple and cute. Long, flowing white dresses is her favourite thing to wear while having some leisure time in the summer. She paints her nails all of the time and will occasionally apply some makeup, though this is rare. Her house is very simple and full of lacy pastel items. She adores anything glass and has a glass china collection that she will readily show to others. Other than glass china, she collects dolls. Ball-jointed dolls to be more precise, though she has no qualms about buying a porcelain doll or two on the side.
Beatris is blessed with artistic ability. She was taught this skill from her father, an intermediate painter and sculptor. Her father used to say that art ran through her veins and she was destined to be great at it. Beatris is indeed an artist. She does not sculpt or paint like her father does but took her own approach to art. She spends her spare time making ball jointed dolls. Tasks that she usually does include making their bodies, painting their faces, even making their clothes when she feels adventurous enough. Beatris puts a lot of time, effort, and money into making her dolls. Most of the time she creates her dolls for herself, to add to her collection, but on occasion she will sell a doll to someone. She has even taken commissions before. Although making dolls is time-consuming and a lot of work, she loves her hobby and would not have it any other way.
Beatris's mother used to scold her when she was little. "Beatris, keep your chin up and flash the world a smile, why won't you?" she would say. She was uncomfortable with her toddler's constant frown. Beatris has always had a frown on her face. It is natural. She has never been able to rid herself of her constant frown. She is not sad or angry. Her frown is her natural expression, her resting face, so she is often in a neutral emotional state while frowning. Her mother doesn't like it. Others, apparently, do not like it either. If they pass her by in the halls and notice her frown, her boss and co-workers tell her that she needs to smile more. She gets tired of explaining that it's her normal face, so after the first explanation she will just shrug in response if they say anything about it after that.
Beatris owns a small apartment in the city center. It is regularly cleaned by Beatris for she cannot stand living in filth. Her apartment is small but fits her perfectly. It is full of light from the large windows overlooking the streets. The walls are white, and she decorates her apartment with soft colours. There is not a lot of furniture in Beatris's apartment because she does not enjoy unnecessary clutter. Furniture found in her apartment include: a simple dining room set for the kitchen, a desk and chair in lieu of a television and couch, and a side table or two with a couple of odds and ends on top. Beatris keeps her knick-knacks and dolls on shelving units around her apartment. Her bedroom is fairly small, consisting of only her bed and a bedside table. Beatris does not need much and she does not want much.
"the past is in the past"
Beatris's mother and father were almost polar opposites. Her father was a gentle, sweet man in love with life and all it had to offer. Her father was an artist, yes, but he was primarily a university professor. Beatris was very close with her father. They often went to museums together and read books at the library with one another. It is from her father that Beatris acquired her love for knowledge and all things beautiful. Her father also had a strong influence on Beatris's career for her was always pushing her to choose a job that she would enjoy doing for the rest of her life. Beatris's mother, on the other hand, was a strict and pessimistic woman who was constantly picking out flaws in Beatris and her father. Beatris was scolded all of the time for her constant scowling face and berated when she was sitting with her back slouched. Despite her mother's tough disposition, she was a very fragile individual who was prone to breaking down. Beatris was at her mother's side a lot, comforting her no matter what the problem was. Her mother was a very calculated plumerian and had a love for anything to do with numbers. She was an accountant at a large company. Her mom was fanatical about cleaning and taught Beatris the importance of being clean at a very young age. Her mother taught Beatris a lot of things about staying determined and being strong, even when she wanted to be weak.
