he was born a thief, his mother ignoring him most of his life. all he wanted was a bit of attention, and that way was by stealing.
he did get attention, the thing he wanted the most, but in a bad way.
nobody thought he could change.
except one.
a female kalon went up to him one day, her eyes dreamy and full of stars.
he thought he had to impress her, for her to know he cared.
so he tried to steal for her, a silver headband carved by a deluxe designer.
but the kalon shook her head and said that she wouldn't like him if he stole anything.
she wanted something handmade by himself, and she also said she wanted it to light his way to a good future.
he made some beads for her, one that would wrap around her tail.
but she shook her head and repeated the same sentence she told him.
he made a matching headband, hoping she would like it.
but she repeated the same thing over and over.
he finally understood, in his mind, he knew what he had to make.
he learned how to make things with silver, and it took him quite a while.
no kalon saw him for months, he was busy with his work.
he crafted and crafted, for days at an end.
he scrapped bad crafts and remade and redesigned his model until it was perfect.
and then one day he made a silver lantern, sleek as satin.
he was so happy, he never thought he could do anything.
he took it to the fine kalon who told him to make it for her, and he tried to give it to her.
she took it into her paws and smiled at him, a grand smile that he loved with all of his heart.
she told him to do things for others, and sometimes you will get things back for yourself.
she gave him a weaved collar, matching his fur perfectly.
she put the tailband on him, and then the headband.
but the last thing she did was give him a lantern, and she said that he had to remember to light others paths as well.
from that day forward, he helped others.
he searched for lost kalons in the woods, comforted them if they were sad or lonely.
he became a crafter, who crafted things for free.
he donated all his money to homeless kalons, happy to see their smiles.
many kalons know about his past, and he's quite proud of it.
he thinks it shows all the 'evil' kalons or tricksters that they could always change.
all you need is someone to light their way.
