breed history and standards

senegal hounds originated from crossing ibizan hounds, pharaoh hounds, and the scottish
deerhound. this cross resulted in a larger, lanky but versatile dog. the cross is mainly used
to protect the national parks of senegal. they thrive with tracking and are extremely prey
driven. they excel in protection work also and are not known to be human aggressive or
animal aggressive. they are known for the triumphs in hunting down poachers

senegal hounds need both routine and constant training. they are not a breed for a novice
dog owner. being extremely independent these dogs are known to push boundaries and
when bored, can become extremely destructive. they are a working breed first and foremost.

the average lifespan for this breed is 10-12 years. male weight ranges between 75-100lbs while
females range from 55-85lbs. this breed, when not breed responsibly can suffer from hip
dysplasia, degenerative myelopathy, and hypoproconvertinemia. the breed club recommends
breeders to test and have hips evaluated by the OFA before considering breeding.

senegal hounds are born with floppy ears and usually by the age of 6-8 months they stand.
coat type is usually determined by 6 weeks of age as these hounds can be either short hair
or wire.

They are also used to guard the senegal zebras. another adopt to be launched in partner with.

community rules

General Rules
- your CS account must be at least 2 months old
- please be kind and respect everyone.
- you may only win one hound per day.
- you must create a kennel page. update 3rd Dec 2019
- hounds have a total of 6 breedings slots, litters result in 1-3 pups.
- there is no limit to how many hounds you can own.
- all owned dogs have collars and a transparent background

Birthday Gift List
- You add yourself to the list in the link on the first page.
- You then will be added to the official list.
- You will receive a custom in the bank .

Trade Guidelines
- you can only trade these hounds for other hounds or for items within the community.
- there is a two week cool down on a traded hound to be traded again.
- the hound must be at least a week old before trading.
- both users must post on the adoption thread to verify a trade.
- once confirmed, user must post an archive update.

Character Building
- only dog-related mental/physical disabilities are to be used in this species.
- they can be depicted as anthros or humans etc.
- accessories are allowed either preset or added through an item from the shop.
- any art/writing must be CS appropriate to be shared.

Coat Colors and Lethals
- lethal coat combinations when bred together can have issues, artists are allowed to do so.

- coat colors are natural/semi-realistic. eye colors can be unnatural.
-- unnatural colorations and markings are allowed on adopts, not customs/myo.
- mutations are reserved for milestones, as are heavily scarred or missing limbs.

Warnings and Bans
- you will receive three warnings before a ban will be put in place if you are causing issues.
--- all your hounds will be marked deceased.

- any further questions can be asked here to update the FAQ.

- if you leave the community, you can mark your hounds as deceased.
-- you may not use the official references outside of the species.
-- you may ask permission with the artists to transfer the design out to use
as you please with appropriate credit. they cannot be used as senegal hounds once you leave.

staff guidelines
- artists are allowed one custom per month if they have made at least 3 adopts.
- permanent staff are allowed to make a self breeding once they have completed
three breeding orders per month
- staff are allowed to open customs after they have made the required three adopts
for that month.
- Staff can stack their staff customs to get a higher tier custom.
- other staff are allowed one per month if activity participating that month
- must number all adopt properly and name the coat color.
- must be respectful and appropriate when dealing with the community.

Coat Colors Include:
Black, Slate/Blue, Liver, Isabella, Red. ( variations of these colors are acceptable,
no neon colors please)

Coat Patterns Include:
Piebald, Ticking, Roaning, Brindle, Tan points, Sable, Agouti, Merle, Silver, and Graying
etc. ( Senegal specific genes will be announced periodically. )

FAQ

any questions asked will be placed here.

1. What happens if I win two in a day?
You will need to pm the second artist to notify them of the issue. The second one you received
will need to be rejudged. You do not get to choose which to keep. This is an honor system.

2. Can we change the name of our hound?
Yes, you can change the name of your hound if you see the need to.

3. Can I be added to the design?
While you may be added to the design, you may not add anything to it, this includes items unless
you have bought the appropriate things from the shop.

4. Do I need a kennel storage?
Yes. Otherwise you cannot try out for adopts. This storage can be with other species as long as
the hounds are labeled and breeding slots are noted.If you do not link a storage in your forms, they
will be void. You must link in the form for the hound.

5. Do hounds have a breeding cool down?
No. Only you as the user will have a limit of 2 breedings per month.

6. Can I order a breeding for someone else?
No, you order the breeding you are wanting yourself. that user needs to post a order just as everyone
else. pups can be gifted and such but you must keep at least one unless stated prior all for adoption.
