what is axolotls?
axolotls is a neotenic salamander who is related to the
tiger salamander! they never undergo metamorphosis,
and instead remains with gills and aquatic-living.
they're widely known for their abillity
to regenerate body parts and accept
transplants from other axolotls.
mutations & colors
color variations
- wild type greyish/brownish color
- white
- melanoid dark brown or black color, gills and eyes is black, lack shiny specks
- leucistic light color, dark eyes, dark red/pink gills and may have freckles.
- axanthic
- albino white, red eyes, red gills, dark fingertips
- golden albino peach/golden colored, may have shiny speckles, clear eyes, peach colored gills
- copper pale copper colored with dark freckles, dark red eyes, dark copper colored gills
- enigma dark gray with white belly and toes, covered in golden patches that appears green in certain angles
- firefly dark colored body with a lighter colored tail or the opposite. some have a special glow under uv light and is lab created.

- chimera/mosaic result from two developing eggs merging into one, very few hatch and may come with health problems
