what would this babu do if they were to discover snow?
Incendia padded along the path, a pale cloud of steam rising into the crisp winter air around her. The weather was cold, though she could barely feel it. The lava-like substance inside pulsed with heat, filling her always with an intense warmth. The charred lava rocks floating at the top bobbed gently as she continued along.
Then, she felt the tiny, sharp sting of cold on her muzzle. Crossing her eyes, she glimpsed a silver crystalline fleck before it disappeared, leaving a tiny drop of water.
What was that? Incendia wondered right before she felt a series of the same sharp nips. There were more of the small silvery-blue flecks drifting down around her now, filling the air. With whimpers as each fleck hit her shell, Incendia stumbled along, desperately seeking shelter. She realized that she was out in the open, easy prey for these stinging bits. Even the ground was beginning to pale with the mysterious matter.
As abruptly as the cold stuff and started, there suddenly weren't any more coming down. The white substance glittered delicately around her paws, radiating cold stronger than Incendia had ever felt. The warmth burned more intensely in her, igniting her curiosity until she couldn't take it anymore. With a cautious paw she reached out and patted the thick layer of cold. As soon as her paw came in contact with the cold it stung for a brief moment. All that touched her burning paw melted. With a sudden flashback she remembered her mother informing her about something called... "Snow!" Cold, frozen, harmless water that fell from the sky in winter.
Throwing caution into the frosty air, Incendia sprung straight into the snow, hearing it hiss around her as she rolled. There was shocking cold for just a moment before she felt the melted snow trickling down her sides.
The liquid inside of her was cooling. The snow calmed her and slowed her impulsive movements so she could take a moment and admire the beauty of the world. Incendia realized for the first time how much beauty that something so cold could hold.
