~Information~
General-
The Dundee bird lives in most Tropical Rain-forests, including the Amazon. They live in South America, Africa, and parts of Asia. These birds are colorful, with natural color bases and then colorful accents. Each bird is different from each other and each bird is born with it's unique colors and patterns. When an egg is born, the father will stay with the mother, as she raises up one to three Chicks. in the first week of laying the egg, the mother must perform a lullaby of the Moon, which is there God. The Moon God, Graficial, will then give the eggs a special power to empower there own personalities and colors. This does not mean they have a power. Any Mother who does not perform this ritual, the chick will be a plain grey, or a plain color, with little accents and a very distant personality. This is very rare though, for the only way a mother wouldn't perform the ritual, would be if she died. These birds rang from 3 feet to 4 feet, so almost as large as person and because of this, they can be tamed and ridden! Hey have large carnivorous teeth, with a long pink tongue. They don;t have beaks, but more of the nose of a bunny, with a large gaping mouth that can stretch 85 degrees. They have sturdy legs, built with thin muscles and tendons, with a big powerful robust body, and fluffy fur and feathers. There wings are almost useless though, and they are only able to glide for about a few minutes, from tree top to treetop. In captivity, or on ranches, there wings will be clipped.
Appetite-
Dundee Birds usually eat meat, mostly fish from Rainforest rivers, but small mice, and smaller animals, such as Beavers and cows even. Also, they can be given berries, which help support their bones and muscles as they grow.
Age-
They can live up to 20 years.
Reproduction
A female can only be bred to one male, for they have to find the perfect mate, which take several weeks of courtship dancing with there wings and mouths open playing humming songs to each other. males will fight over the females, and sometimes die. In captivity, people are very careful when finding the perfect mate, because they mate for life. So When A female gets with her mate, she is allowed to breed 10 times with them.
Personality-
This differs greatly because of the Moon ritual performed, giving them all different personalities and unalike traits.
Riding purposes-
They can be ridden for ranch work, or there are events specifically designed for them. Like Hunting games, and Dundee racing. As well as Minimal jumping, as it can hurt there legs terribly. They also can be used to pull heavy things.
Gender appearances-
male Dundees have thick fur on their necks, almost like a lions mane that is used during breeding to find a mate, and also can be used to defend their mate and territory.
Territory-
In the wild, they will start families, and these families can become colonies, they are social birds and they can live up to groups of 50. The average is thirty, with A leader, a Leaders mate, then the regular Dundees, then the Mothers and the Chicks. Because of this, they are forced to have vary big territory, ranging 30 square miles, to 50 square miles.
Aging process-
Chicks born from the egg are called Chicklets, and they grow to Chicks within three months (6 days on here) They then become Chicks and began to socialize and learn ways of living with their colonies. They are not full grown till two years old,(2 weeks on here) from then on, they will fight, and colonize for top ranks to find the right leader, but this takes place only during the spring time during mating season.
