Khalsi (Kaal-see) are horse-like dragonesque creatures that are about the size of a small horse or a large pony. They are very lightweight - due to having hollow bones - but muscular, and have hard, hoof-like webbed paws. Khalsi can communicate with each other just as any animal does, though they use telepathy at times. They can also use telepathy to communicate with humans, and do so frequently. Khalsi have retractable teeth, and their pupils contract into slits when they are angry. All Khalsi live near bodies of liquid. This may be a lake, pond, arctic sea, or even a lava pool. Khalsi have both gills and lungs, so they can breathe/live underwater or on land. There are three different types of Khalsi: Aquae, Aurae, and Nixae.
Their diet consists of most types of fish, but they tend to enjoy a snack of fresh grass, fruit, seaweed, or even chocolate at times. There have been rare cases in which Khalsi have been known to eat human flesh, but this is almost unheard of.
Most Khalsi love snow, though they tend to get chilled easily unless they are protected by winter clothing. Nixae are the exceptions to this. The different species are compatible with each other, forming inter-species herds and maybe even taking a mate from a different species. Most juvenile Khalsi tend to band together, or find herds of older Khalsi to live with. Most Khalsi are not tolerant of saddles, in fact, they despise them. If a human tries to put tack on a Khalsi, the Khalsi will most likely bite or kick the human.
Aquae
Aquae are scaled Khalsi with large webbed spikes or fins. They have three gills on each side of their neck, which are slightly larger and more jagged in shape as compared to those of the other species. Common colours for Aquae include blue, teal, turquoise, green-blue, indigo, and pale blue. Uncommon colours include purple, green, brown, and pink. Rare colours include grey, yellow, red, and orange, while black and white are considered very rare colours. Heterochromia is uncommon, while multi-coloured (i.e. blue and pink blended together) eyes are rare.
Aurae
Aurae are feathered Khalsi which sometimes have feathered wings and/or long, elegant feathers starting at the top of the tail. They have four gills on each side of their neck, and their feathers are glossy and dry easily. Common colours for Aurae include pale yellow, pale orange, pale teal, pale turquoise, pale pink, pale purple, pale indigo, and pale brown. Uncommon colours include pale green, pale blue, teal, turquoise, yellow, purple, orange, pink, brown, indigo, white, and grey. Rare colours include red, blue, and green, while black is considered a very rare colour. Heterochromia is rare, while multi-coloured eyes are uncommon.
Nixae
Nixae are furry Khalsi who live in the colder regions and usually have hair of some sort (on their heads). They have five small gills on each side of their neck, and their fur is soft and repels water. Common colours for Nixae include pale blue, pale indigo, pale teal, white, pale purple, pale turquoise, grey, and any shade of brown. Uncommon colours include blue, teal, pale green, purple, turquoise, indigo, and pale pink. Rare colours include green, pink, black, yellow, red, and orange. Heterochromia and multi-coloured eyes are common.
The Basics
- There is no set limit as of yet, but try not to adopt too many. I want Khalsi to be used, not just adopted and left alone.
- Please don't whine if you don't win; there will be other chances for you to win a Khalsi.
- Customs are CLOSED as of right now, but that may change at any given time.
- Please don't ask to be an artist/guest artist/mod if the applications aren't open.
- You may not sell your Khalsi, though you may gift him/her to another user if you don't feel a connection anymore, but make sure to get permission from the artist first!
- You can also ask for your Khalsi to be put up for re-adopt by the artist or me.
- If you create gift lines, please pm the link to me! Anyone can create gift lines, no matter if you own a Khalsi or not.
- Khalsi can only breed through the nursery. Please do not breed your Khalsi with any other animal.
- Please do not steal the Khalsi species, or any of the designs made on its lines.
- You may give your Khalsi items, or change their hairstyles for special occasions or outfits.
- Extra line edits (i.e. more hair, changing the style of hair, etc.) are permitted, but only if the original artist agrees.
- Changing the species of your Khalsi is not permitted at all.
- Unkind words or actions are not tolerated and will earn you a warning.
- Please do not mini-mod. That's what the mods are for.
Growth and Breeding
- You must wait at least two months to grow your babies or teens.
- Each Khalsi may only breed twice.
- You must wait at least two months before breeding a Khalsi for the second time.
- Khalsi mate fore life, though problems can force them apart, as with human marriages.
- As soon as a teen grows into an adult, he/she may breed.
- Breedings between any genders will be accepted (I am a proud supporter of LGBTQIA c:)
- Babies may be kept, adopted out, or gifted to someone. Please let the artist know the fate of the babies.
- If you want to gift your baby(ies), please ask the artist for permission first.
- Please, no inbreeding.
- Each breeding will consist of 1-4 babies, one or two being the most common amount.
- If the breeding Khalsi come from two different owners, there must be an even number of babies (i.e. 2 or 4).
- It is preferred that you ask the original artist to age your baby or teen.
Artist Guidelines and Helpful Tips
- THIS IS A LARGE FILE. Save often.
- You may delete layers you're not going to use (i.e. if you are making an Aquae, you may delete the Aurae and Nixae stuff).
- Colour rarities for each species are relayed in the species descriptions.
- Customs don't apply to the colour rarities; they can be any colour, of course.
- Hair and line edits are encouraged.
