you approach the lab, you hear a scientist yelp. Rounding the corner, you see the startled researcher stepping quickly back from the fence, clutching his torn lab coat. The animal inside emits a low growl which seems to carry through the room with a deep humming sound. You can feel your feet stop vibrating as the sound quickly cuts out. "Is this the animal that you're thinking of giving up for adoption?" You ask apprehensively, somewhat shaken up by the experience. "No, no, not the animal... the species." The man replies, slowly drawing back a curtain to reveal a mother wolf with her tail curled around a litter of pups. "We've found more, but these were the ones we brought to the lab."
These wolves are huge- as tall as six feet at the head. They have strong paws, able to crush a human's rib cage easily. However, they seem somewhat tame unless threatened, and much prefer ripping their prey to shreds than simply stepping on it, so scientists believe that this is a defense rather than a feature they use for catching prey. They have an armor-like structure infused to their back, and are born with this. Their official name is Loricatus Lupus Mortemius, meaning "Armored Wolf of Death", but scientists prefer to call them this outside of official reports for comic relief- humans love making jokes about things that they're terrified of. These almost seem to be the child-scaring creatures lurking in the dark.
