What are Avidae?
Avidae are large, birdlike creatures that live in grasslands and plains all over the world. They're often confused with their winged counterpart, the Griffin, but are very much indeed earthbound. They can be seen tagging along behind lion prides and other groups of carnivores, as they only hunt when there is nothing to scavenge. Their claws and beaks are more suited to fending off competitors than catching prey.
Exactly how large is an Avidae?

What is the diet of an Avidae?
Avidae eat whatever they can scavenge from other predators. They have a fast metabolism, so they're almost always following predators. Often, an Avidae will sort of "claim" a lion pride, following that specific one for months, even years. Avidae will try to fight eachother for prides.
What's all that fur for?
They use it to intimidate other adult Avidae and find mates.
What noises do Avidae make?
They screech most of the time, and make clicking sounds with their beak.
Fun Fact: An Avidae's eyes are mostly fixed in its head.
