An introduction, by Alani, herself;
"Well, as you might have heard, I'm Alani, and for starters well, um, how can I state this. Sorry, I'm bad at public speaking. I'm a photographer and my favorite thing to photograph are sunsets. I just love how unpredictable they are, and how you never know what the next one will look like, with all the colors and shapes in the sky. I like to play with the lighting, angles, and reflections on bodies of water. I think photography is my passion, but then again, do I love the pictures, the picture taking, or the things behind the pictures? That's a question for you.
Well, I just opened my own coffee shop with my friend Anemone the other day. She's real nice. I sell a lot of my pictures in there... so if you want to go in there and look at them, it would be a pleasure, out place is called Dawn or Dusk. Don't you think that's a cute name? Because people want coffee to stay up, and there are lots of pictures of sunrises and sunsets? I also just really like coffee too. And talking to people. Anemone bargained for an organic and locally-produced shop, and I agreed. I too love this beautiful earth.
I've tried some of the other arts, dipped my paws in painting, poetry, and music. But I'm not really all that good at any of them. Painting is fun, but my picture didn't really look like anything. And I'm not patient enough for abstract. And, I don't know, I just think poetry is boring. I'd rather see a movie. I sound like a rat when I sing, and can't play the harp for nuts...
I'm a rather logical thinker. I've always been pretty good with numbers and sciences and now I've been taking astronomy courses, learning about the universe beyond our own world. That's something else I absolutely love. If you would have told me I'd be learning astronomy, and have my own (well, with Anemone) coffee shop way back when, I would have thought you were bananas. I can hardly describe it. The thought that our huge, amazing earth is just a small part of an entire universe boggles my mind. Learning about the different types of stars, matter, and planets is just amazing. It's something that I will always love.
My charm? Oh yes, it's a sun. I got it right after that moment pictured up there, in the art. A photo I had my mom take when we were out vactioning near the biggest lake on earth! Quite specatcular, and the sunsets are fantastic. Endless beaches, and I remember sitting on a cliff for nearly an hour, watching the sunset from beginning to end. The wondrous colors, blended together in pure mystery, reflections seemingly endless. Sorry, I was drifting off. Anyways, how I got my charm. Right. After the sun went down, I told myself that I could not feel this way, this strongly towards something without any sort of commitment. I told my parents that day, of how I felt, and how I wanted to learn about the atmosphere and everything it holds, and to capture the beauty of the sunset over and over and over, they decided I was ready for my charm as a young teen. To this day I hold it close to my heart.
Thank you for listening... I know I rambled a bit. But, uh, thank you!"
