Swedish Mountain Drafts
{ Equitum Montem }
{ Equitum Montem }
The General Information
This breed of draft is native to the mountains of Sweden, hence they're name.
Stocky in build, with lots of feathering on all of the legs. The tail and mane are naturally "mohawky", but with designed feed supplements the mane and tail can grow to be very long- up to 4 feet in length. The general height of these horses is 19hh to 21hh- anything under 17hh is a 'dwarf' SMD. These horses, unlike most drafts, are used commonly for riding,due to they're easy ability to train, although jumping is strongly cautioned against, since many a SMD have had to be put to sleep do to broken cannon bones. These drafts excel at; Dressage, Endurance, and Flatwork, though they're forte is driving and plowing. Even though these horses aren't supposed to show jump, a new breed at 18hh that's being developed for jumping. They will be thinner, have less feathering, and the mane will be longer.
SMD's should get lots of love and attention, and many hours of training should be devoted, and to prevent hoarding, the national SMD limit is five.
The Breeding Information
Breeding is Closed
Now, onto breeding- All stallions and mares can breed, but not geldings, { fixed male horses } since they have been castrated. { The gender symbol for a fixed stallion is a 'o' with a slash through it, next to the normal male sign }
Owners must have permisson to breed they're SMD with another, though no permission is required if both stallion and mare are yours. If you wish you breed, send me the form below via Pm, only send when breeding is open.
Showing Information
Yes indeed, SMD's may enter shows. However, before entering a HARPG show on Deviant Art, you must clear with the host that the breed is ok to enter. SMD's have they're own shows with varied disciplines, however that is still being set up.
If someone buggers you about how they look like Nordanners, simply link back to this thread and they will see that they are nothing alike.
SMD shows will be limited to english, or classical riding, as well as driving.
