What is an ARP?
History
Aztec Ridgeback Poines are an ancient breed of horse that originated in Mexico during the reign of the Aztecs. The ancient Aztecs revered these large ponies as "holy creatures", much like the ancient Egyptians worshipped cats. To ride one was a great insult to the gods, as it is very painful for a Ridgeback to carry a rider do to its sensitive ridge of hair. The Aztecs were the first to domesticate this species, using them in special ceremonies and as pets. The Aztec Ridgeback Ponies became a symbol of strength and power to the ancient Aztecs.
Today
Shortly after the Spanish toppled the Aztec empire, most ARPs migrated to the slightly cooler western United States. Now the majority of them roam wild among the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas living on the sparse shrubs of the desert, and the occasional cactus. Even though these ponies run wild, they are very trusting of humans and are very easily kept as companions. They can still not be ridden because the weight of a rider would cause them much pain to their ridge of hair.
Appearance
-Range from 12.2 hh to 14.2 hh, never over 15 hh.
-Short, stocky build
-Have a ridge like that of a Rhodesian Ridgeback's extending from middle of face to hindquarters, gets longer at the rear and neck to form a tail and mane
-Males have a bit of fur on their chest and under their chin
-Both genders have fluff on the underside of their cheek
-Wide, slightly short ears
-Are usually paint but it is not uncommon for a solid colored ARP to be seen
-Never appaloosa
-Have brindling on legs and face called ribboning
-Ribboning is always at least on legs
-Very rarely to they have ribboning on the neck or body
-Often have tufts of ribboning in the mane and tail
-"Iridescent" is a recessive gene (that I made up) in ARPs that makes disallows ANY black in the coat (including hooves) and makes the colors duller. It also makes ribboning a lighter or same color to the base coat. Most ARPs without this condition have darker ribboning.
Adopting
Available Ridgebacks will have an "adopt me" sign on them. Those without have homes already.
You must not edit or "pretty up" your form in any way. Correct forms are those that are not edited at all and only have the information next to the bolded base form.

Breeding and Genetics
The outcome of a foal is based on real horse color genetics. You can use this color calculator (obviously not made by me xD) to try to predict your ARPs foal. The foal will receive bits of each parent's ribboning design.
Stallions can cover mares four times, while mares can foal a foal three times.
Certain artists will be able to take breeding orders from you. I'll let them decide how to do that. Breeding will most likely be moved over to the official topic when it's made.
Breeding is currently closed.
