Hello and Welcome to The Griffin Place (TGP). Now, just to get something straight, 'Griffon' is not the wrong spelling. Thie majestic creature can be spelt as Griffin,Griffon or Gryphon. I call it a 'Griffon'.
Griffin/Griffon/Gryphon
The griffon is a mythological creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. It has the forelegs of an eagle with talons. They have the hindquarters of a lion. They were considered divine because the lion is the king of the beasts and the eagle is the king of birds. They are guardians of the divine. The eagle head is given prominent ears (lion ears) and they can be feathered.
In medieval lore, Stephen Scotus writes that griffons are monogamous. This means that they only had one mate. If their mate died, the other would continue to live without any other mate. St. Hildegard of Bingen explains how griffon mothers lay eggs. The female would fly around looking for a cave. The cave had to have a narrow entrance but with a lot of room inside. This entrance would protect the eggs from the elements. Once the mother found a decent nest, she would venture in and lay three eggs and guard them with her life.
That is how they are known. But did you know these creatures are great pets? They will protect you, they love to cuddle and you can even ride on them! Now, Normally Griffons only come in the one normal colour. But not here. Here Griffons are bred to be all sorts of colours!
