What is an Ovison?
An Ovison is a strange, seclusive carnivorous creature that few people manage to see in their lifetime. Their bodily builds are similar to canines, but their horns and other strange attributes make them very mysterious, and tend to confuse anyone who sees them. They live in various different climates, and consume a wide range of small animals. They have extremely venomous saliva, powerful jaws, and a razor sharp tip at the end of their tails.
General Appearance
Ovisons are about the size of a newborn puppy when born, and can grow to be about the size of a German shepherd when adults. The males have large ram horns that grow throughout their life, and the females have long, sharp horns on the top of their head, between their ears. Babies are born without horns, and they begin growing at a few months old, when the babies begin growing quicker. Ovisons usually have three eyes on each side of their head, but only the center ones are functioning. The center eyes are more towards the front of their face, . Their tails are long, thick and slick, and they have razor sharp tips. Every now and then, a cub will be born with extra eyes, ears, or tails, but this is rather uncommon. Their fur is usually short and slick, but the few of them that live in below-zero climates have longer fur to protect them from the cold temperatures. Some Ovisons have ridges down their back as well. The lack of any horns or an Ovison that has the opposite gender's horns are quite rare, as are Ovisons that have less than three colors on their coat.
Colors and Patterns
Ovisons can be a wide range of colors and patterns. Their most common colors are tans and browns, but they can be most any color. Most of these creatures have stripes down their back and on their thighs and tails, but other patterns are very much possible.
Temperments and Tendencies
Ovisons are usually rather solitary creatures, but it isn't uncommon for them to travel in groups or pairs. They can be aggressive and territorial towards each other, and can engage in violent fights that end only after one is killed. Still, many Ovisons are very affectionate and loving towards each other. Despite their menacing appearance, they are actually quite loyal and protective of their companions and family, if they are the unusual few who choose to remain with others.
Breeding
Ovisons most often remain solitary for most of the year, and meet other Ovisons only to breed. Females can only have two litters in their lifetimes, and males can breed up to four times. They change mates regularly, and it is extremely rare for them to mate with the same Ovison more than once. Their litters are very small, and usually have only one or two pups at a time.
General Rules
-Do not ever claim this species or any Ovisons you adopt here as your own creations. You must give me credit for the species, and link back here if you ever use it off site.
-Do not breed your Ovisons yourself, you must come here and ask to do it. You can give them girlfriends/boyfriends/friends and all that other stuff you may want to do, but please allow us to do the breedings. You can pick the artist you want to do the breeding.
-You must either own both Ovisons you want to breed(can only do male and female pairings), or the owner of the other Ovison must agree to the breeding.
-Do not steal others' ideas in your adoption forms.
-Do not argue or freak out if you do not get the Ovison you wanted.
-Don't steal or copy my species or any part of it.
-You can try for as many Ovisons as you want, but remember that the best form gets it!
Artist Rules
-You may make yourself two customs, but may not make customs for anyone else. I might add the option to get customs later on..
-You must stay active, or you will be fired and replaced.
-Don't make any major lineart edits, and don't add tons of accessories. You can edits the lines and layers, and if you have an idea for an Ovison that you aren't sure would work with me, just PM me. ;] (For example, if you wanted to make one with multiple tails, or with only one eye)
-Keep my signature completely visible at all times. You may move it around, but it needs to be visible.
-Don't argue with me, or among yourselves.
-I'll hire temporary artists first, and I'll see if they're reliable and good at their work before they become permanent.
-If you use the adoption form I added, or any other kind of form like that, it is NOT first come first serve. The best form gets it, as I want these to go to good homes.
-You can use different adoption forms or methods, but please have me approve them first. ;]
-Please have the desing approved by me before posting it.
-You can use whatever you want in the adoption form for people to try for it, but I'd really prefer if it was something like the example I have below, so I know that whoever gets it will have worked hard for it.
