if you sit without a saddle for a short time it would be okay, but siting on the long hairs with a saddle will damage the muscle and root of the hairs because of the pressure (this process doesn't hurt and it even happens when you cut them, because of this the hair would not grow again). but the rubbing on the long hair would hurt the kirin, like if someone pulls your hair (never forget that the skin of a horse is even more sensitive then human skin) and would cause the hair to fall out after some time.
if you want to train with your kirin for many hours a day you need to ride it with saddle to let it stay healthy and if you don't cut the hair on the back it will soon look ugly (bald spots), so i would suggest to cut them in the end.
hope this is comprehensible ^^
