So it turns out Blue-eyes IS my spirit animal, and she's named Keikya. I asked her about the ink people, and she laughed and said (telepathitacly) "Why do you want to know? There are none here."

As in she has not seen them in any area she has occupied ^ ^
either that or she's just ignorant and not seeing anything happening around her.
