Spider Question. Needing an answer..?

Postby anacromise » Tue Dec 06, 2011 11:15 pm

I've been here for a little bit thanks to my room-mate Soul and I have a question! It seems that everyone knows a ton about random things.. So here goes!

So we have these spiders that started popping up after our druggy neighbors moved in. I thought nothing of it until they started pouring out of the closet in small clusters.. Ok... Settled that with Axe and a lighter! Great! No more spiders!

And then one night two babies bit me on my right arm. It hurt like acid was being dripped into my veins.. In about 10 minutes my entire arm and half of my face was numb and swollen. I wound up falling asleep and slept for about 12 hours.. Woke up with minimal swelling.. The pain, however, lasted for roughly a week.

After hours of search the next day. I STILL couldn't find them! We currently live in the US in a wet area... There are holes in the walls. They LOVE to hide in those areas... Their webs are nearly see through.... I still have yet to figure out wth kind of nest they have.

But they ARE aggressive. They actively chased me when I tried to get a picture.

Pic I got? Well. Let's just call him George!

George's body is about the size of a thumbtack tip, and his legs can wrap around a pencil with ease!

His father/mother thingy is a lighter brown, has been seen to be the size of, or bigger than, a quarter, his/her legs being long enough to wrap around a water bottle cap.

I need to know what they are asap. I don't think I can handle another bite. ESPECIALLY not by mama/daddy George!

If you could message me with answers? I would LOVE that! D:

Note: I know it's not a false black widow. The bite paralyzed my arm for about 12 hours..

I recommend going to a doctor and getting an exterminator. If you can get one out, there is a possibility the exterminator will know what type of spider is, while getting rid of it.

I'm clueless as to what type it is.

The first thought that popped in my head was a brown recluse, but I think they are bigger, and they also have even dangerouser then what you described (though that sounded horrible, and I'm so sorry! )

So.. instead of going to the ER when bit by a spider where half your body is numb, you decide to.... sleep it off?
I have no words for this other than you are damned lucky to have woken up the next day.

Go to a doctor and get an exterminator. Professionals that will help you. A children's site is not exactly the ideal place to get IDs on a dangerous spider.

Unfortunately CS is not a medical site. I suggest you head to the doctor's and ask them more about what kind of bite it could be.
