Oh yes, art definitely proves a challange! I've never been able to draw my fursona! And it's hard to give a naturally colored wallaby any other forms. I've never been able to order a lineart of him, and customs are so much more expensive. Actually, I used to have several fursonas - one for all the time (a teal wolf named Mystica), one to represent TaeKwonDo (a black bear named MooShem), and one to represent my freedom in both religion and as an American (a butterfly named Twitter). I had them for a year or two, and my mom made me a birthday cake of Twitter, and while I loved them, they simply didn't represent me. I love wolf fursonas still, they just aren't very original. C;

It truly does prove a challenge, a panda isn't extremely hard to draw, but for multiple artists I've talked to, most have never done a red panda making finding an artist I like rather difficult. But, to be honest, it makes it far more enjoyable for me for some odd reason. I'm actually yet to get a commission from someone willing to draw it, but my fursona has many small details to her, making out all the more difficult.

Well, despite it perhaps being the wrong thread, if you guys need art done of unusual fursonas I'd be willing to sketch you two up something? I'm looking to practice some exotic animals anyways, and wallabies and red pandas sound like the perfect fit.

Nothin', the practice is worth it, and it's nice helping other people out. Just the fact that I'd be getting my art out there is nice, because you guys get pictures of your character, and I get to hone my skill.

My fursona is a hybrid of four animals... Originally, my fursona was going to be a raccoon, but then I changed my mind to skunk. After a couple weeks, I decided to try drawing her and she ended up looking like a cat, so I decided to make her a cat. I drew her again, but she ended up with very long ears, and decided to colour the long/thin parts at the top in black, and then she looked like a bobcat/lynx with a long furry tail. I ended up making her half Canadian Lynx, because I love lynxes and bobcats and I'm from Canada, and half Maine Coon because they are so fluffy and they have long, fluffy tails. And it wasn't too awkward, seeing as both species are felines. Then I decided I wanted to give her tail feathers above her tail because I wanted her to be at least slightly original, and I decided to make her part Kea, because I love Keas and I haven't seen anyone with a kea bird for a fursona, and then I decided to also make her part Magpie because I feel I resemble magpies a lot. So she ended up being a purple (may change, I'm still designing her; I just have her shape drawn out after a few months.) Canadian Lynx with a Maine Coon-like tail, tail feathers above the tail and wings.
Basically, my fursona is 1/4 Canadian Lynx, 1/4 Maine Coon, 1/4 Kea Bird and 1/4 Magpie (haven't decided which type of magpie, though that may not matter because the wings/tail feathers will be unnaturally coloured or will look more like a Kea Bird).

Uh, the only fursona I had was a fantasy coyote?

As for now, I don't really have a fursona.

My fursona is a European Hedgehog named Evelyn. I'll spare most of the details, which can be read over at her thread. :]
(It's still a huge WIP, so beware of falling rubble.)

As much as I love Evie, and having a fursona that isn't your "typical" species, it's super hard to get art of her. Many people can rely on just colored lineart if they have a feline or canine fursona, but with a species that doesn't fit that mold, you're stuck ordering custom art, which 99% of the time is too pricy for me. I don't even own one '08 Advent, let alone two, which seems to be a common payment for a nice custom piece. And considering Evie's overall design is very simple, it's just not worth it to me. So most of the art I have of her is objects/similar species (like mice/rats, or the cup in my signature) colored like her. It's not ideal, but it works. :c

As to how I found her... I thought of a lot of animals over the past two years before deciding on a hedgie for my 'sona. Red fox, doe, Main Coon, chickadee... nothing seemed really "me". With some animals, you can get a personality off of them easily to match with your own. Dogs/wolves are loyal. Felines tend to be antisocial/selective/lazy/etc. I'm more cat than I am dog, but neither really suited me. Somehow I stumbled up on a Harry Potter patronus quiz and got a hedgehog for my result. After reading more about them, it seemed the perfect species for me at this point in my life. Thus, Evie came into being. :]
