There's so many great species out there, most in far more need of help, and yet they pick out the wolf and make up all sorts of ridiculous reasons for why wolves of all creatures are the most deserving of saving.
Oh, but of course wolves are beautiful, innocent creatures that wouldn't dare hurt a fly. What, you love all animals? How about the giant otter? Great whites are on the verge of extinction because people are so terrified of them, sound at all familiar? Or the hundreds of endangered frogs and lizards and salamanders?
Oh, I'm sorry, I guess they're not pretty enough. My bad.
And then there's animals that die out because people simply don't know about them. Yes, we're all aware of the wolf, but what about shore birds? They're dying out because people don't know to look where they step and ignore the signs warning people to stay off the dunes. Sandmice and their families are crushed because their homes are turned into race tracks. Sea turtles dies slow painful deaths getting tangled up in nets, often times on their way to lay their eggs.
Yet you'll whine about the poor, orphaned wolf pups?
They're off the endangered species list. If they make it back on then maybe they deserve some more help, but the fact that people just blow right past so many important, fading species and still trying to defend the wolves sickens me.
