I was the coder for FooRadio and also owned it with Forest.
I've been broadcasting online for nearly six years now and honestly Chicken Smoothie does have a great market for a radio and I do believe that it would be very successful. I can easily see 500-800 people tuning in which is quite a lot of an online radio station.
With that many people, however, the costs to run the station per month would be very high. FooRadio averaged 100-300 listeners during its peak period and the total costs were around $100 USD per month. That being said, it was not fully legal. Since the staff here would probably want things to be legal all around, the costs would definitely total $700+ USD a month in order to cover SoundExchange, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, PPL, and SOCAN. (That's the US, Canada, and around forty other countries. Anything not covered by those licenses would have be purchased separate or blocked from listening...)
Oh, don't forget the broadcast program either. It's around $300 USD and $50 USD for each presenter spot.
My point is that this would be very expensive but would be successful for sure. If CS actually decides to take this project on (which I'm doubting will happen, just saying) I surely hope they pick someone who is experienced/do it themselves. Either way, I'm not interested due to other commitments, but I was asked to offer up some advice.
Good luck!
