**HALLOWEEN-CHRISTIANITY?**

Postby Air » Thu Oct 20, 2011 5:02 am

Hey. I don't really celebrate halloween, because my parents say it isnt christian. And now a friend(Splotchy in fact) has invited me to go trick or treating. I want to, but my parents are still unsure.

Please let me know weather you think Halloween is unchristian. Thank you!

Personally I don't see it not being Christian. :/
In my church, Halloween is also the Reformation Day.

It's just like how people turn holidays around and make it fun for the kids xD
Like how at Christmas time there's Santa and his reindeer...when it's really the day we celebrate Christ's birth.

Well...that's what I think lol

Me and my family (We're Christians) never really celebrate Hallowe'en the specific festival as its a mix of the Wicca Samhain and a few Festivals of the Dead (I think) but we can appreciate the Holiday. I see no problem going trick or treating. I suppose its like people of different faiths celebrating Christmas, its a nice holiday we can all join in with but you don't have to celebrate the certain reason or whatever, but its your choice. I hope I was a helpful…sorry if I got my facts wrong D=.

Evening walks among the orchard,

She greets the dancing dusk,

A spirit of the air;

A lady, if you must,

Her dress a robe of twilight,

Her eyes awash with sun.

She places gems of water,

Along the grass, among

The apples fallen, withered

By her master, Autumn Sire,

Coloured in the lilac glow

Of Winter’s sharp satire.

The church that my sister goes to celebrates Halloween. They call their program "Hallelujah" and they do a bunch of neat stuff. Everyone dresses up, even the pastor, and at the end they give everyone a big bag of candy for free. It's a really neat way to turn a holiday that was original started for pagan beliefs and make it a thing for God.
I always trick-or-treated until I turned 13 (I am now 15) and I am a christian. There is nothing particularly wrong with trick or treating as long as you are careful and do not go anywhere you aren't familiar with/is dangerous. Have fun trick-or-treating if you parents let you go ^^

I used to go trick-or-treating all the time until my family started going to a new church. Since it's the "day of the devil" in our belief, I don't celebrate it too much anymore. D: Trick-or-treating is just a fun way to get candy to me. xD
My Mom was so iffy about letting me to go to my friend's Halloween party, even if it's a tame one. I had to pretty much get on my knees and beg her, because she really didn't want me to celebrate the holiday. Dx

I don't think there's a problem with it. Most holidays started as pagan holidays anyways, specifically Christmas. Christians turned it into the celebration of Christ's birth, but he wasn't born in December. I don't think celebrating Halloween by going trick-or-treating is UnChristian at all.
