I spend my time at the stables, wiht my horse, Norton :3 I feel amazing riding him. I even talk to him x3

Do you even know what 'immature' means? Sorry to burst a bubble, but it doesn't mean 'less intelligent' nor 'posessing less knowledge'. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if your peers turned out to be more mature than you.

You are not, I repeat, you are not better than ANYONE in any way. Please don't behave like you are.

I'm sorry if you took it that way. Yes, I do infact know what immature means. -_- I never said they aren't as intelligent. I never said I was better. No one here has said that at all. But whatever. Whatever you took in from reading this thread is on you.

In our school, we did 'CAT' tests. I can't remember what that stands for but, when we all got our results back, I was in the top 25% of smarter kids in the country. I'm actually quite proud of myself. :)
It was ice-cream headaches
And sweet avalanche.
When the pearls in our shells
Came out to dance.
You call me a bad tipper
Of the cradle.
With tired yawns
For fawns
On hunter's lawns.

We're the has been
Of husbands.
Sharpening the knives
Of young wives.
Take two years
And call me
When you're better.
Take teardrops of mine
And find yourself wetter.

They were discussing it civilly.

It really doesn't matter whether you're a mod or not, in my eyes. If it's out of hand, people are going for each other's throats. The discussion above was civil. Someone even APOLOGIZED. Get your facts straight.

-prepares for flames/ban hammer/warning-

Well not really civilly. I was totally raging. I mean I underatnd people want to tell others about their achievements. But Gifted and Talented classificatiosn at school just makes the top 10% of people big headed and the other 90% of the students feel like a failure. So Think of them before you tell people. Like I'm gifted and talented and quite clever, but I never metion it in front of my friends, becuase some of them have a hard time at college.

Anyway, to put my two cents in... I was classified as 'gifted' through Elementary school. Then for Middle and High school, I went switched schools to where there was no 'gifted'. Yes, I was in advanced courses, and I'd say I was in the top third of my class, but we were all expected to be that good - no special qualification needed.

I can proudly say I went to a very good college - Emory, part of the so-called 'kudzu league' (the ivy league of the South). And you know what? I got my ass kicked front, back and sideways, and it was one of the best things to ever happen to me intellectually.

Being 'gifted' isn't an excuse to get complacent. If anything you should take such titles to be worrisome. It means you've got to step up your own personal education because your education system is saying 'we're not sure what to do with you anymore'. Without intellectual challenge and stimulation, you can just let yourself slack off - and then when something comes up that you find you can't do, it's going to be an even big deal. Sometimes you need to know how to deal with feeling as if you're intellectually in over your own head.

When you are told to sink or swim, you're often going to find that even if you can't do the perfect backstroke, you can doggy-paddle. You have to learn how to 'hum along' sometimes. College is great for that. I'm no expert in neuroethology, and yes, that course kicked my behind. But I loved every damn minute of it because I went home from class with concepts in my head that I didn't quite get, and then I could chew on them and slowly figure them out. And that was immensely satisfying!

...I'm not sure how much this pain-med-induced ramble is making sense, but my point is that being 'gifted' isn't the accolade you think it is, most of the time. It means it's become your responsibility to make sure you are intellectually stimulated, and that school has little to offer you 'above and beyond'. Don't let it get to your head. Go throw yourself in that pond if they won't punt you in there. You might sink, you might swim, but you've got to try.

I might be considered gifted. I am in Advanced English, and I was 'gifted' in English during elementary school. I'm the best Social Studies student in my grade, (there's no Advanced classes for Science and Social Studies at my school) and last year I got Exceeds Expectations in Reading & Math for my SATs, and I have an A in each subject, my lowest being a 96% in Math. I'm a huge Science geek. I play two instruments, Trumpet & Piano, and enter lots of academic competitions. Last year, I won a 'Student of the Year' award, and my classmates all look up to me. But I do have flaws. I HATE Algebra, and I ain't the best at it. I sometimes require my dad's help with it, but I do ok, in general. Sometimes, my common sense isn't the best, either, but other than that, I guess you could say I'm gifted in most things.

I was in AIG.
Academically, Intellectually Gifted.
I take all honors and AP classes.
It's quite easy to cheat the system, and make everyone think your smart. I know this from first-hand experience |D
