horsy1050 wrote:Gifted? So shouldn't every human being on earth be part of this then. A test means nothing. I took a test and people who got lower scores then me were gifted, everyone was suprised I wasn't. To be honest I didn't care. They sould be helping the less gifted and not giving more support to those who don't really need it.

Making students gifted is probably just another way of the school getting funding. I'm now gifted now I'm college becuase I' in the top 10% of the college based on GCSE scores. Only becuase everyone else from the school left. I got 1 A* at GSCE and every other "Gifted" person got at least 3. It means nothing at school except you get to go on trips. Whopty doo.

Every person is gifted in their own way. So being gifted is a opion. People call me gifted in art, yet I barely passed my As level (I passes by 3 marks, so 4 marks less and I would have failed) I got 53/100, 50 was a pass, so I barely got half marks. But people would consider me gifted.

So they tested you on athletic ability too? There are many gifted atheletes but I bet that test didn't include them right?

Sorry this turned into more of a rant then a constructive thing.

Thank you.
I agree with horsy, hands down. Everyone is gifted in their very own way. I'm gifted with reading and my Harry Potter nerdness... But on the other hand I'm horrible at athletic stuff and art...

Lol! I've been reading all these posts and I seem to fit in! XD All my classes are like 2 grades ahead of me! XD I hate Math but I'm good at it but I hate doing it! I also love to read and sing(have had many solos) and I love sports! I <3 Sports, but I mostly play soccer and basketball, I play for my school!

Oh I forgot! I love art! (with a pencil and paper) I'm not as good in art as I am smart but I was asked to be in Art club, and only 20 people are allowed in out of the whole school! XD
If you have any questions feel free to pm me. ^_^

And on that matter. Also being gifted could mean your a brilliant person to talk to, or a great listener. Being gifted is about being good at something, anything. So you could be the most average person but you may have the best personaility. Are they not gifted?

In the future "Gifted and Talented" (Which I aparently am) means nothing. When you apply to university, the university doesn't care. Employers don't care.

It's all about schools getting funding, making kids feel special and making the rest feel like failures. So stop rubbing it in peoples faces. I'm gifted and talented and you don't see me bigging myself up. None of my friends are gifted and talented. I don't think I'm better then them, becuase I'm not. I'm a selfish, whiny and ungreatful person.

So they are better people. Gifted or not. They are still good people. Just becuase your "gifted" doesn't make you a better person then the other people going to your school.

I am really annoyed by this thread. I wouldn't be if you guys stopped acting so extremely arrogant.

I'm gifted too. I try to have patience. I don't like tlaking in class. I get carried away and everythign thinks I'm arrogant. I spend my time at the stables, wiht my horse, Norton :3 I feel amazing riding him. I even tlak to him x3

Do you even know what 'immature' means? Sorry to burst a bubble, but it doesn't mean 'less intelligent' nor 'posessing less knowledge'. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if your peers turned out to be more mature than you.

You are not, I repeat, you are not better than ANYONE in any way. Please don't behave like you are.

Yes, and some people are really funny, so in that way they're gifted. Some people are able to speak in crowds, in that way they're gifted. Some people are kind, flexible, loving, caring, patient, understanding, ect. So in a way, as we've been saying. Everyone's gifted and no one is better then anyone!

Personally, I think the true "gifted" people are the ones who have a gift, however small, but are sensible enough to simply use it and not to go around rubbing it in people's faces and trying to be cool. Unless your "gift" is being annoying... trololol

This. Seriously, I really hate the Gifted Program. I remember how badly I wanted to get in last year. I felt if I wasn't in, it made me average and stupid. I took the test and failed it again. But the school accidentally put me in a T.A.G. S.S. class. I was so happy, and I felt like I wasn't a failure. but after two weeks, they realized it was a mistake and they kicked me out. I was so crushed. But now I realize being in that program doesn't matter. Huffy, horsey, and snowflakes are right. People are all gifted in their own way.
