I HATE it when the title of the roleplay is ____(Semi Lit RP) and the first post is like this:
july wakled up to hte man an dsaid hi
I've come up across so many of those. They're not always as bad as the above imaginary quote, but you get the idea.

Rainbow Dash wrote:I play a gay character in a multi-fandom setting with OCs allowed. He's not a flamboyant waify bishounen prancing around hitting on every boy in sight, he's just a crime scene technician (He's based in the Phoenix Wright fandom) with a long-term partner, a steady job, a modest flat, and a hobby collecting historical medical supplies. He just happens to be gay, it's not his entire identity.
Your character, (let's call him Waif) who is a flamboyant waify bishounen, begins practically hanging all over my crime scene guy (we'll call him Grissom for the lulz.) Grissom gets rather uncomfortable and asks Waif to please stop touching him, you then start telling me OOC that Grissom HAS to get together with Waif (whom he just met) because it would kawaii yaoi desu or something. I say no, Grissom has a partner he's been with for 10 years and he doesn't like to make a big scene about his sexuality, you get all offended and start saying I'm playing yaoi all wrong, basically throwing a tantrum.
Apparently yaoi means having your male character shack up with the first male character that touches him against his will. Who knew.

I don't get Yaoi, but that is just me. I know more masculine gay people, and definitely feminine gay people. Like you said, they aren't all super flamboyant.
Which brings me to another interesting point.
Fair number of Gay characters.
Lots of bi characters.
Almost no lesbian characters. Ever.
Hm...
