I'm atheist but I have a serious question that I'm curious about... My friend told me this and I can't find the answer on the internet anywhere...

My friend said she once went to a Mormon church. After they locked her downstairs with other kids her age they forced her to sing.
The adult female in charge of the kids told them about the Mormon religion. The one she told them was that the husband will die first and get in to heaven easily. When the wife dies she will be pushed into heaven by her kids on Earth and her husband will pull her into heaven. If the wife gets into heaven the wife and husband will enjoy there time making 'bubble babies'.

I was just wondering if this was a common (If real) Mormon belief and if so does anyone know what bubble babies are? If not I'm sorry. I'm just curious and google is no help. The only thing I found for 'bubble babies' was kids that were sheltered from the outside world.

Heya! Add me.

Also, I'm not a big fan of the slang term Mormon. I prefer being called a member of the LDS church.

LOL! Just a quick crazy story here.

So my sister is out in Utah at a gas station and she's wearing her horns headband. Someone nearby whispers "See? I told you those Mormons have devil horns."   Some of the stuff people come up with. I'd have to say if you were to be Christian you'd understand all beleivers of God and treat them as an equal. I have a friend who's a methodist and another who's athiest. Oh well, people are people and just another obstacle in life. You can be friend or enemy. I'd suggest staying on my good side though. I can be a vengeful saint.

This is the weirdest thing I've ever heard. I've never heard of an LDS church with a basement. I was raised in the church and my family has been LDS since the time of Joseph Smith and I've never heard of bubble babies. Is your friend okay? I've known people who've gone to the Insane Asylum and they aren't this crazy. They were probably making up stuff.

Clear stuff up
WE ARE NORMAL CHRISTIANS!! We are as misunderstood as the wolf and the Furry. We have a few things different, but we do believe in God. We are not mutated, we are not from outer space (Born in Denver, duh!), we aren't building a spaceship to go to Kolob, and we are tired of your accusations. Born and raised in the church, I have been blessed to know of such a religion. I'm sorry for those who are lost and confused. Hopefully, one day you will fully understand our religion and knock off the odd accusations.

Even though you PMed me saying that you didn't mean to be aggressive I find most parts of your message rude. My friend is a good friend and I find it quite rude to be accusing her of making this stuff up and calling her crazier than Asylum patients. I really think you have no right to accuse her. And the story I told was only to show why I was asking about "Bubble Babies."
That is why I asked about it here because she wasn't sure what Bubble Babies were. You could of easily said that you've never heard of it as a Mormon belief and were sure it wasn't one.
And just because you haven't heard of a Mormon church with a basement doesn't mean there are none.
And I never called you weird, a wolf, furry, or odd. I was simply asking a question I was curious about. I never accused you or you're religion of anything and I do not slander your religion, talk bad about it, etc. I am simply curious about what a Mormon person told my friend when she was younger, mostly about what 'Bubble Babies' are.

Only thing I can think of is that when the woman said Bubble Babies she meant sheltered kids. That's the only logical thing really...

Alrighty then. Sorry about that. By the way, I am a Furry.

I've seen many styles of church from the old styles to the new and haven't found one with a basement. Also, I'm saying we are misunderstood. Anyway, I'm not sure what your friend means by any of that because that is one odd belief. Again, I apologize. I tend to be a bit more aggressive in my responses.

My old Catholic Church on the military base had a basement [Little kids went down there during Church and they had food down there], My grandma's church has a basement, and even my mom's friend's Baptist Church.

And my friend was only telling me what a woman at the Mormon Church told her.

Thank you for the help though.

Btw, I consider my self a furry too but I'm not die hard furry. :3

The only thing I really notice about their religion is that they talk about it a lot because it is such a large part of their lives. I remember when we had to go to a meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday once, one of my Mormon friends showed up dressed in fancy clothes because they'd just gotten out of church. Ouch.

Any who, questions:

The local Mormon church also gave a couple of our teachers Crystal Apple awards recently. Do you know anything about those?

My friends also mention talking to 'missionaries' a lot. I remember feeling confused when I heard that. Why would they need missionaries? Don't those guys go off to far away places and convert people?

I ought to be asking my real-life friends these questions, but they don't really like discussing these things with non-Mormons. Which makes sense, because some people are really rude to them about their religion. A lot of people at our school think it's okay to make fun of Mormons, for some bizarre reason.

I don't think those apple awards have anything to do with mormons. xD I'm not really sure what that's about.

Missionaries aren't always at far off places. They'res usually missionaries wherever mormons are. They have to be taught by someone, don't they?

Were they talking about you talking to the missionaries, or them talking to the missionaries? If it was you, they probably want you to learn more about us. :3 If it was them, then that's probably because they're friends with the missionaries or something. xD Not sure what you're asking there.

I asked about the Crystal Apples because our school newspaper reported that the local LDS church had presented two of our school's teachers with the Crystal Apple award for excellence in teaching. It may just be a local thing, I don't know. And I asked about missionaries because I was confused about the role of the missionaries in the LDS church. As I said, my friends don't really talk with me about their religion, so I respect the fact that they choose not to discuss it with me and don't press them for details. Which is why I asked you guys. I'm sorry if my questions came across as confusing or ignorant.

Here's a question for you that might sound a bit random, but here goes: Why do Mormons paint eggs at Easter and what does the egg symbolize (if anything)? The reason I'm asking is that I asked a Mormon that once and got a very convoluted non-sensical answer that I'm really hoping she was just making up as she went along. XD I suspect if I asked any of the local guys their answer would be "Pfft, it's fun and it keeps the kids busy, and I get lots of egg salad sandwiches out of it", so I was wondering if there's a more official religious reason behind it or if it really is just for fun.

Anyway, the egg is new life. When Jesus had been resurrected it was kind of like a new life.

As for painting, well, you got me there. I just like to do it because it helps me develop my artistic skills.
