Dear Rookies,

I know our band director gets on us upperclassmen for our leadership A LOT. HOWEVER, he fails to realize that when we take his advice and say "Shut up and just do it like I am" you back-talk us, you whine, you argue, you come up with excuses, the list goes on.

Now, I was a rookie once too, and that was a BAD YEAR to be a rookie marcher. (A full page of complicated 16th note runs at over 200 bpm, criss-crossing in close lines across the field.) This year, you don't have it too bad. I know that it's still intimidating and hard, but we're trying to help you. Really. Then you turn around and whine that we aren't helping you enough. If we were helping you anymore, we'd be carrying you. Literally.

This is Marching Band. This is NOT Elementary Band class.

You may be new, but you have to work JUST AS ******* HARD AS US! I think you fail to realize just how badly we need you. Which is a lot. Just, for ONCE, shut up and DO WHAT WE'RE DOING!!!!!!!!!

I hope we get the uniform system! I'm tired of discrimination because I'm wearing my favorite black Puma sweats with the bleach stain where the butt is. I don't care if everyone all looks the same. Dear sophomore year,

I'm glad I'm moving back home, I'm glad to be going to a school I know I'll like, and I'm glad to see all of the friends I had to leave behind almost two years ago. Two years sounds short but it feels more like ten years. In a couple days I'll be settling into my new room and then later on add my own theme to my room, which I haven't been able to do for years. I can finally personalize my room again instead of mixmatched or blankness! Gosh I am so excited! I don't think I've ever been this excited to start school and this excited to move!!! Maybe my life is turning around? In a good way! Finally something great is happening! I know as soon as my friends see me on the first day they'll attack me with hugs and tell me to never leave them again! I love my friends and miss them so much. Can't wait for you sophomore year! Please be a good year to me!
