Right now I'm mostly annoyed by computer problems. Seriously, first my wireless USB modem broke and since I live in the middle of nowhere there is no way I can get it fixed before summer (so, that would mean no internet for next three months). Of course, I also have no car or driver's license and bus connections are very bad here too. Well, since I'm such an internet addict I thought of a better solution and 'froze' my deal with my internet service provider (meaning that I can re-open the connection when I get the modem fixed and I don't have to pay for the darn thing before that), and bought a new, better one. When I will finally be able to repair my old modem, I will be stuck with two working internet connections, which I will have to pay for of course. Hopefully I manage to persuade my sister to take the older one and pay for it for the last year (it's a two-years periodic deal).
So, that's why I was pretty much without a working internet for the last week.
Now, when I got my brand new working modem, my computer decided to break mentally. It was probably some kind of a minor system error at first (I couldn't get any memory devices, like external HDD's to work), but in the last two days the error, I don't know, escalated? Last straw that finally broke the camels back (so to say), seems to be the failed installation of Windows Service Pack 1 (I have Windows 7, and the new SP was just released not so long time ago). After that everything did go like "BOOOOM!!". Nothing worked. Well, except for my internet -luckily my new modem and connection were so amazing that even when Windows Update and the rest of the Control Panel stopped working, they still work perfectly.
Eventually it all came down to the inevitable end of this chaos -I had to format my poor, nearly brand-new computer. Now I'm re-installing all the updated and programs I had before all this.
Oh, and of course I couldn't save even half of all the files I had on my computer, since the thing refused to work with any USB-devices (except my usb-modem, of course). So, there goes all my music, video and picture files. Gladly I was able to burn some of my most important things on CD's.
>_o Seriously, computers hate me. /rant
