^ I just got done reading about the Mayans. I'm super fascinated by the fact that people did human sacrifices (I don't think it was a good thing! I'm not a psycho), but it's highly interesting. The Aztecs did sacrifices as well. The people who were sacrificed were painted blue (this color represents sacrifice). While the sacrifice was still alive, their heart was ripped from their chest. If someone who was really important got sacrificed, like a warrior, they would be eaten...like they'd get chopped up and essentially passed around. There were other methods of sacrifice besides removing the heart as well, like decapitation. I'm not going to go into detail about the other methods because they were very graphic and disturbing. Usually the blood was smeared on the image of their gods, to, you know—honor them. There's a lot of cool Mayan art depicting sacrifices but you've got to have a strong stomach lol.

Here's some more cool Mayan facts if you were wondering as well.
-Beauty standards were a whole lot different. They liked having elongated faces and purposely bound their heads. Like this picture:

They also drilled holes in their teeth and put gems in them.

-Also, we don't really know how the Mayan population went down. That's still being debated.
