The tail (its a lime green and hot pink fox tail, about....ehh....nineteen inches long, its going to be 21 when im done.

So, I get to buy some furs tomorrow. any advice as what to look out for? (fabric)

Unfortunately I don't know a whole lot about fur yet (still learning that part) but I do know you want to try to stay away from the long stringy shag fur; it isn't nearly as soft or high quality and tends to shed.

Oh wow!! That looks awesome! What is it made out of?? That isn't yarn is it? (and where did you get it? XDD)

It is yarn I dont remember where i got it, but it is red heart brand...(the one that most tutorials tell you not to use.) I used a standard wire dog brush to brush it out (I stole my German Shepherds XD) and an old straightener to get it so smooth. Like i said, this is my first tail, hopefully the next one is better.

thank you. do you know any signs that the fur will shed/fall apart a bunch? all the furs shed a little, but one of my old heads is almost bald.

Hmmmmmm XD may have to see if I can get my hands on a little bit of that stuff and see if it will work for my tail.. it's supposed to be like horse hair but unfortunately hair extensions are stupidly expensive and I don't know what else would work...

The best way to tell, especially if you are ordering offline, is to get a swatch; most places will either send it free or with a small $5-10 charge, that way you can check the colour of the fur (they don't always match) as well as the feel/quality of the furs ^^ just looking at them online is hard... the only way I would guess would be to see if you could find someone who had used that supplier before and could give you an honest review

For the hair extension thing: but a cheap blond long hair wig after halloween. This will be dirt cheap.

XD yea I might have to see about that, then see if I can paint it maybe... hmmm my other thought was seeing if I can paint real horse hair XD I have a draft horse who has a tail that is thicker than most tree trunks around here so I was thinking if I thinned her tail out a little and tried painting it that might work XD but I have no idea (she wouldnt be hurt at all during this process just incase anyone was worried XD its just like getting a normal haircut)
the mane and tail are giving me a hard time; as well as finding a good place that has enough of the right colour of fur that is short enough XDD but it is all part of the fun of these thigns

you could just make longer knots and brush it out so that it brushes out more like long hair, than medium length hair.....should i link you to the tutorial i used?

Sure that would be awesome ^^ it would be worth a try lol especially if I didn't have to paint/dye it
