This is an entry for one of the katkins from the katkin adopts by meveh. Please don't post until I say you all can!
The sun was high in the sky. A breeze rustled the neat, cropped bushes. Sunlight filtered through the leaf canopy, forming a dappled pattern on the earthly ground. Tigris sat under the big tree, welcoming the shade on his burning skin on such a hot day like this. Tigris paused, and let himself heave a sigh of relief. He just finished school. Some of the other katkins left, while some stayed to breathe in the sweet smells of honeysuckle and clover, or just to hang out with their friends. Tigris’ eyes darted from one katkin to the next. He slowly closed his eyes. He heard pawsteps coming his way. Tigris opened his eyes. A black-and-white katkin, a little bit shorter than him, had bounded toward the tree, and then leaned against its trunk. “You also enjoying the nice shade?” the katkin asked. “Yup,” Tigris responded. The black-and-white katkin sat down. “I’m surprised you’re the only katkin, besides me, of course, to sit under the tree on a day like this.”, the katkin went on. “Practically everyone’s fur is scorching off right now!” Tigris let out a purr of amusement at the words. “So, uh, what sports do you play?” the katkin asked, immediately changing the topic. “I play tennis a lot.” “Me too! Just running and hitting the tennis ball is quite satisfying when you are in a bad mood.”, the black-and-white katkin meowed in excitement. “Well, why not?” Tigris responded. “I have a feeling we are going to be good friends.” The katkin said in a clearly happy tone. “What’s your name?” “Tigris.” “That’s a cool name.” the katkin said in interest. “My name’s Juliet, glad to meet ya.” The black-and-white katkin said. Tigris smiled. He and Juliet were a perfect fit, like peanut butter and jelly. Tigris knew this new friendship’s future would be bright.
