Whoops! I never realized there was a NaNoWriMo thread until my friend Morioh (above) posted on it. XD
I'm past 40,000 and trying to get done. But I'm stuck on a dramatic death-ish scene. Geez! Why do heroic pre-butt-kicking speeches have to be so hard.

ahh, yes. I am still stuck at 36k. Writer's block has been getting the best of me.

I feel behind last week but caught up on Saturday, writing 4,000 words. So I'm keeping up so far despite exams and whatnot... Word crawls has been helping - does anyone have any they like? I kinda prefer ones that don't have a storyline because I tend to cheat if they do... heh...

That's awesome! I had fallen behind as well after taking two days off, but I'm back on it too. I did a bunch of five-minute sprints with my best friend who lives across the country today, and even though she crushes me every time it was still fun!

I haven't really found any crawls I like... which ones were you using?

I skipped around a little bit today; I'm going to have to go back and finish the second part of one of the chapters I wrote. Is anyone else doing this/feel it might help them?

STAY DETERMINED YOU CAN DO THIS

I was behind on the first couple of days. I forgot all about NaNoWriMo until the 2nd, and only remembered just before bed. I caught up after a few days and then began to rise over the recommended word count for each day.
I had committed myself to publishing a chapter a day on Quotev until I got done. It would have been easier for most people to stick with 1,667 words a day, but probably impossible for my personality (if I start the chapter, I get sooo frustrated if I can't finish it in one sitting).
Plot-related word dares are usually out of the question for me, because of the already set-in-stone and almost-finished plotline. I got one that said: "Back up your novel in at least 2 places." Now this one is nice and practical, and I can do it without derailing the thing I'm currently writing.

It's really impressive you can skip around your story! I find this extremely difficult. Like not even normally difficult, but extremely difficult with a HUGE amount of emphasis.
I'm a very concrete person. Thinking about stuff like time travel paradoxes makes my head hurt. When I jump around chapters of my story and write different parts simultaneously, it feels somewhat like time traveling through my story, and it's weird for me to do.
However, going back and editing previous written parts is much easier. Like today I spent a while editing a chapter I'd been working on all weekend (the dramatic death-ish scene with the pre-butt-kicking speech). I had to add a couple lines here and there, but this is after the entire chapter got finished and written. I'm glad I finally finished that part. I was so stuck on it... XD

Nearly at 45,000 words now!

I'm a semi-serious author with a question:

How do you manage to not get distracted doing things like... Well... This?

I have no idea how I avoid distractions. I can be literally surrounded by distractions and still pass my word quota. Most likely it's the knowledge that my determination WON'T let me sleep until I finish my part for today... and I've learned the importance of sleep, the hard way.
Yeah, it's probably that. I'm waaay too obsessed with getting stuff done. XD

No problem, and good luck on your project! I hope you excel!!!

Hey guys, do you have any specific music/soundtracks you like to listen to while writing? Or certain songs for certain scenes/parts/characters/moods?
I find that silence is surprisingly good for writing, especially if I'm concentrated and I can hear my own heartbeat. (I love the sound of a heartbeat. The sound of life and hope. iT'S SO FREAKIN INSPIRATIONAL AND AWESOME!!!)
... Especially since the part I was just writing, was literally ALL about how the heroine is hearing everyone's hearts beating as one and stuff. XD

OMG I JUST FINISHED!!!
