I'm a slow typer, have quite a bit of homework over the weekend, and I don't have much motivation to actually do the writing. What's in it for me? I'm not planning on selling this book, working on it more, anything. Why do I need to do this?
because sense of accomplishment! you'll be like "hey I can write an entire novel in 1 month"!
and if you reach your goal, then you get 5 free bound copies of your novel c:
Really? c: Sounds nice.
But is there anything other than the accomplishment? Struggling for a month to write 50K equals a feeling of pride and accomplishment. Yes, I can see what you mean, but I won't have time for pretty much anything next week, and I know I'll fall behind again. :c I don't want to quit, but unless I meet 50K by November I won't feel as proud of myself. </3 What bout motivation? As long as its not food or anything like that, what can I do to make myself WANT to write more? ono

Why? Because I'd hate to see you quit.
Okay, so motivation?
Tell every single person you encounter that you are doing Nanowrimo.
Ask them to keep you accountable.
Everyday at school, someone will say,
"How many words you get yesterday?"
"Are you caught up on your novel?"
"Reached your daily word count recently?"
If nothing else, your pride will make you write.
Its horrible to have to say,
"No, I didn't reach my goal. I quit."
to everyone you asked to keep you accountable.
So you CAN'T quit.
You keep writing.
Also, did you read the pep talk by the author of Tale of Desperoux? (Didn't spell that right...)
Her thing was all about how her motivation was that someone named Gary didn't think she could do it.
Everyday he told her she'd never do it. Everyday she went home to write 2 pages and prove him wrong.
Don't just do it for the people who believe in you, do it for those who don't.
You write that book, then you hit those people who didn't believe you could do it. Hit them with your book.

Also, 50K sounds like a BIG goal in a month.
And it is.
But that's okay.
Just work on that 1667 words a day.
That seems smaller, rigght?
What I've been doing is writing for only 15 minutes an hour.
I write from 1:00 to 1:15, 2:00 to 2:15, etc.
If you can get 500 words in 15 minutes, then it will take you 4 hours of NON-continuous writing to get your goal.
That's only one hour of actual writing a day.
Do whatever you want for 45 minutes- then write for a measly 15.
15 minutes isn't a lot.
But 15 minutes can help you get that 1667 words.
And that 1667 words will help you get that 50K.
Do it for yourself. Do it for those who believe in you. Do it for those who don't. Do it for the satisfaction. Do it for the free copies of your novel.
And do it because you are a person that loves to write, and having an actual product of that passion is an amazing thing.PS-
