Seriously? Don't take time to perfect your plot (that's not the point of NaNoWriMo), just write! I'm now up to 20,904 words.

If I may jump in here -- I edit, too. I edit the plot, I edit the actual substance, I edit the second I see a problem arise.
It does nothing but help me.
Time? Time is nothing but an object -- a limitless one, at that.
Even during the time span a month, one can find the time to just write. Put their creativity to use.
I mean, writers will be writers. Not to mention that writers are editors, as well.
If one has a keen eye to edit on the spot, don't tell them it's wrong.

The point of NaNoWriMo is whatever you make it, not what other people tell you it should be. c:

Ha, even the NaNo seniors tell newbies not to edit. They say turn off your editor, that's what December is for!
I edit things like misspelled words and add words into it, but at this point I rarely care how horrible that sentence sounded. I have so many run on sentences and fragments...

Also I might pull an all-nighter. Sitting on the couch watching TV with my mom did wonders for my moral. I'm ready to start writing now~!
All my pets prior to 2021 will be available for trade as I wish to start fresh. :)

LOL, that was just meant to be encouragement, please do not try to overanalyze it and turn it to the negative. I just wanted them to start their NaNo and see how much fun it is, you don't have to insult me for that :/. Time for the NaNoWriMo is certainly not limetless, I have seemingly endless hours of homework and find it very hard to find a spare moment to work on my NaNo. I edit every now and then but not often with my NaNo, I have not run into any plot flaws yet. They weren't talking about 'editing on the spot' they hadn't started their story yet, please try to read all the posts in a conversation before you make assumptions... Sorry if I sound harsh, I am probably just in a bad mood because it is late and I have to work on my NaNo more, my current word count is 20,996.

I need to go back and edit some weirdly unfinished plot threads. There were a few things that I made important because they had a purpose that I later forgot, and now I need to go around and do some shifting. Hopefully that will get my muse back in order.

Then we have very different meanings to the word, "edit". :3
My version is basically what you described, only I go back and re-read the whole story to touch it up and such.

... Maybe that's what I don't like about NaNo.
People shouldn't be forcing you one way like a workhorse, even if such people are considered "NaNo seniors".

But hey, I love breaking rules.
Funny thing is, this rule isn't even an official one. |D
I'll just stay submerged in my own little NaNo world.
Everyone else may go about their business as they wish.

@aibo: ... Okay. Sorry to offend, I didn't know it was an insult (or the slightest bit negative in any light). I get where you're coming from, I really do, I just have a radically different point of view than everyone else on this thread, apparently. :/

I'm going to go write some more... edit some more, too.

@Tune
I would go back a re-read mine but the parts I skipped over were boring and I kept getting stumped on them. Those I do need to fix whenever I gain the courage to go back to trying to fill it in. :lol:

I also go back and edit sometimes but my style of editting is really just adding in more detail when I need to up my word count but have no inspiration. Also, sorry if it was mistinterpreted but my comment was not saying that it is bad to edit your NaNo but rather if you have not yet started your NaNo yet, it is not the best idea to dwell on brainstorming about the plot and not get to the actual writing...

Okay, so there was a misconception here. I get it now.
Sorry to both aibo and Strawberry -- I'm a very serious person by nature, so naturally, I take things seriously. ^___^ Bad habit, yeah tell me about it...

You know, now to think of it, we all basically had the same point of view going on here. Again, that's the work of misinterpretation. c:

On topic: NaNo is being cruel. :c I suddenly lost all will to write... Oh well, I guess I'm going to sleep early tonight. xDD

@Mycorrhizae: Getting back on track is a pain in the butt, I'll tell ya. Last weekend I was behind by 4,000 words, and it sucked catching back up. That is exactly why I'm trying my best this upcoming week to stay ahead of the game. So yeah, good job with that~! Hopefully, none of us fall too far behind. <33

I'm still 3,090 words behind. I'm staying up and pulling an all-nighter to catch up some. Though in 2 seconds I'll be another 1,667 words behind again. >.<;

@Tune
Don't need to appologize to me. I wasn't offended or anything. :lol: I'm serious by nature too, but I've gained a bit of laidbackness from 4 years of high school.
I also lost all will to write earlier today. I'm just now catching back up.
